GarageBand!

I think it will do 2 tracks with some extra hardware - ie via some MIDI input device.

If its in through the input on the computer, then its one stereo track.

I dont need that multi simul-recording thing because I cant play the rhythm, sing the melody and keep time all at once.....

Apple are going to sell a ton of this app!
One is marked 'El Gruga' already!

This is going to be a long six days; I'm actually using 'Audacity' more because I'm so enthused about GarageBand!
I dont even like Audacity that much.....

Well, it looks like all the GarageBand topics are in one forum now. Cool. (By the way, do you guys know what the weather's like out East? Probably a bit colder than the West, eh?)

peace.

Not quite true, I use my M-box as a general interface, you need to get the Digi core audio update, which allows everything to work through the interface, I run Reason, Sountrack and Logic through mine, and we use the HD ProTools 192 interfaces for everything in the studios at the Uni.

I'm not sure the 2 track input is going to be so useful, I think its a mono or stereo situation, if you were to put two seperate feeds into the two different channels, then you'd end up with a single stereo track with one sound out the left and one out the right, and both controlled by the same track in GB.

edit: it appears that you can record TWO separate tracks via something like an M-box onto TWO independant mono tracks, very cool indeed.

GB won't allow genuine multi-input recording, its a very capable sketchpad, not a ProTools killer.

What did you expect for $49? I think it's going to be the mutts nutts anyway, bring it on....:D

Oh come on ... Steve's little mix, and his jovial attitude sold me on this purchase! I thought it was awesome!!

Bumping the thread up

Just getting this thread back up to the top.

Has anyone out there compiled a list of all of the instruments in GB, and if you have it, Jam Pack? I'll probably get an idea when I head over to an Apple Store this weekend, but I think a lot of people would benefit from a long list. There are some particular instruments I hope are in GB - Hammond B3, Rhodes piano, Mini Moog.

So if anyone would be kind enough to pause their creative juices for a few minutes and compile a list, it would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I'll second that. I'll be buying GarageBand regardless, but I'd still like to know what all is included - same goes with the Jam Pack. I'lll probably be buying that one too, but I'd love to know in the meantime!

it would appear that the first list posted didn't have the Jam Pack, and the second did. There're just many more instruments in the second list, like 2x the amount or more.

argh, i knew it...like half of the instruments Steve demoed require the jam pack.

br0wnbuffer,

Thanks for the time and effort put into compiling that list. My personal favorite (based on the keynote demo) will probably be the classical guitar. It sounded amazing. I just hope the program runs well on my Mac.
