I agree.
Nobody should be forced to do something they don't want.
But trust me he's not the only one capable of hacking iPhones.
Well assuming his iTouch really is untethered then currently yes he is.

I have not used any of his products before anyway.
Maybe someone can enlighten me a little bit here. But since I'm not too informed about the specifics of the hacks, what is the big deal with having an untethered hack as opposed to what is currently available? What are the advantages?
Thank you for those links, that explains a lot. So just to make sure I understood what I read correctly, are you telling me that, for the people with a tethered jailbreak, if they restart their iPhones, they will have to be tethered to a computer in order for it to boot up? And if they are not, they can never get passed the apple logo screen?
If your phone unlocked, you've benefited from things he's discovered whether you used purplera1n or PwnageTool. Geohot found the exploit that's used in yellowsn0w and ultrasn0w, wrote blacksn0w, and developed the method used to neuter the 4.6 version of the bootloader on the iPhone 2G. His work was also instrumental in developing the unlock for the original 2G. I, too, tend to lean toward Dev-Team tools; but I have to give him his props.
I LMAO'ed at this tweet of his:
"my iPhone just kernel paniced on the road...good thing I don't have a tethered jailbreak"
