I agree, I am a Swype convert but this seems to take it up a notch. Since having it on this phone I have had no desire to install Swype at all.

Didn't you notice that prediction was a lot better on Swype? Otherwise visually I definitely like the Google keyboard a lot more.

I havent used it enough to notice the difference on the prediction TBH, on the few occasions I did use it, it was on a par with Swype at least.

The only thing stopping me from switching to it as my main keyboard is that I love the swipe left to delete gesture on SwiftKey.

Wow, you guys are nitpickers. I'm saying you CAN use it one-handed, not that it would be easy, comfortable, ergonomic, or even really practical, but you can.

I didn't mean to be nitpick. But it doesn't really make sense to talk about one hand use if it is not comfortable doing so. If we don't take those into account, then even a 17'' laptop can be used with one hand.

It's mostly Matias Duarte, and some of the speakers at the conferences.

I think he seems like a pretty humble guy. I know it's just opinion but I wouldn't like to called a pompous brat without a valid reason (unless you have one).

----------

By the way, do you guys find yourself able to type much faster using swiping instead of just typing?

1) Exactly. But this alludes to Apple's hyperbolic and inconsistent marketing. Again, there's just something disingenuous about how they do things.

2) I find Duarte extremely humbling too. The Verge visit at the Google HQ really made the fellas over there seem super low key and chill.

3) Personally, I prefer to thumb (I thumb extremely fast thanks to good ol' Blackberry days), but I love having the option to swipe when I'm in the mood for it, or when I'm using the device one handed. Swiping one handed is definitely faster than thumbing one handed. Also, sometimes you're laying down or in a position where holding the device to thumb isn't ideal. That's when swiping rules. Options :)

I wasn't advocating using the iPad Mini one-handed, but saying you can't isn't exactly accurate. I never would, nor do I think it's really that practical on a daily basis, but it's possible.

And watching the Verge video behind the scenes for the new Nexus devices made me dislike Matias. That, and his super flamboyant attire. For being a designer, he doesn't have much of a taste for fashion.

I'm with you 100%. So, by that same vain, it's silly to say the S3 is impossible to use one handed. I wasn't being disingenuous when I said I'm glad that you see this now. Hope you'll remember it the next time others start quibbling about how impossible it is to use the S3 or S4 one handed.

I don't think the Note II is anywhere near comfortable to use one handed, but according to the interpretation of Apple's own words, it's possible. But according to their iPhone campaign, anything larger than 4" is impossible. You can argue semantics, but it just goes to show how disingenuous they can be, which was my whole point.

Yes I agree with this.

It is extremely low key and chill. It's such a friendly and laid back environment. Everyone is cool, and everyone is happy. It's a great environment.
