Yeah, I was running some of the older 2009-2010 games at Max settings on steam, but RIFT and games in 2011 are not pumping out max FPS... Oh well. It still runs fine.

Besides that, if anyone has been keeping up with current gen games, if you're not playing a game like WoW or something of that nature, get an xbox or a ps3.. They run all the brand new games, fit a bigger screen and have a better community online.

Just saying :)

I have the high end Anti-Glare MBP and I use it alot for gaming. Granted I play older games like Company of Heroes, Supreme Commander and what not. I do however have Shogun Total War 2 installed and it doesn't seem to be giving me any problems.

I like having a MBP, though I didn't purchase it with the sole intention of gaming. I travel alot, and I needed something lighter/slimmer than my hold HP laptop, and with a longer battery life as I don't always have access to power. The fact that it can game fairly well was just a bonus.

nobody care about your situation. if you really want mac, get a mac, please. but it's your money you like to spend. we don't care. only one thing I hate is that I don't want to reboot to mac os x after gaming all the time. it's hassle. if you don't think so, you are wrong. booting computer requires a lot of power than just running OS. yeah, it consumes batter life even more. by the way, I don't think that you will use macbook pro as only gaming. I don't think so. if you only want to play games, you'd better get console box like PS 3. it's much cheaper, gives you lots of game choices. so who's smart?

Clearly not you :D
To say a PS3 gives you lots of game choices - I'd hate to break it to you but there are more games on Windows in more genres than consoles can even play. No console has as many games, as much choice, as many genres as a PC capable of using every gaming peripheral and input device known to mankind.

And the "hassle" of restarting is pretty much non existent now. OSX Lion has a feature to save your progress and load up exactly where you left it. Windows has always had a hibernate option. The only "hassle" now are 15-30 second boot times for a modern Mac, like the one the OP is talking about. Even in the days of Leopard and XP restarting barely registered on the hassle-o-metre, even for someone like me who works in both OS's, plays games in Windows, organises media and emails from OSX. I spend more time going into the kitchen and getting a drink than I do rebooting ;).

Honestly, it will be cheaper, and work out better for you to buy a windows computer. But at the end of the day, it's what you want. Windows is pretty easy to install on mac.

Honestly, it could be cheaper on Windows depending on the laptop you purchase, but that does not equate to "better" if you put any value on relative hassles and ease of use. The MacOS is superior (to Windows) and the new MBPs are very competitive for gaming.

For the OP you can play any game out there with your MBP. Yes, it does perform better via Windows7 ($60-100) via Bootcamp that is included with the Mac.

Mac OS X has had "hibernate" as well... the new feature in lion is more automatic and hidden fro the user so they don't ever have to worry about choosing any options or anything... and a "hibernate" will not take very long since its always making sure its ready for it, not just when an option is pressed.

Or the hassle of closing down all my other OSX programs... sure they'll start where they left off, but some of us actually multitask, as in multiple programs actually operating at the same time, not just leaving them open, but actually having them do things. I know some people just run a game and do nothing else on their machine besides the game, but for some of us closing down OSX just to run a game is completely absurd.
