This is what I really dislike about pre-ordering...waiting. Maybe I'm just way to excited about getting that new iPad in my hands. I feel like a young girl waiting for Santa; and yes, the FedEx person will be Santa to me. Am I the only one getting this excited as the delivery date SLOWLY approaches?

What's the first thing you want to try out when you get your iPad? I definitely want to surf and see the new ibooks first.

:apple:

I couldn't bear to wait for the 3G iPad, so I'm getting the WiFi one at my local Apple store on April 3rd. I have to work that afternoon so rather than take a chance that the FedEx guy might not get here before I have to leave the house, I decided I'd rather get up early and be at the Apple store to get my iPad. It's a fun experience anyway, being at the store on Launch Day of any new Apple product!

Well, first thing I'll do, of course, is activate it, and then probably do a little web surfing and also I'll download the iBookstore app and also iWork straightaway, too.

I might have been tempted to do the same but there is no Apple Store where I live. The closest one is about 50 miles away. I'll miss all of the hoopla I experienced buying my iPhone at the Apple Store BUT Fed Ex delivers here early in the morning so I just might get my iPad before the Apple Store even opens ;)

That's right. I'll have to get that app too.

I've been at the Apple store for Launch Day for all three versions of the iPhone and also when Leopard came out. I still remember sitting on the floor at the Mall and gabbing with others in line around me that evening of the first iPhone launch and thinking, "I sure hope this new iPhone is worth it!" That was a leap of faith, too, we all were taking..... I went into the store, handed over my plastic card, was handed a nifty bag with the new iPhone inside, and on the way out of the store paused to take a look at the display models of the device I'd just purchased. At last year's launch of the 3GS they had the display models right as we were coming in the door so that as we waited for someone to assist us we could look at and play with the new iPhones. I'm hoping they'll do something similar with the iPad.....

I can wait until after launch day. I would prefer to walk into an Apple store and have the iPad put into my hands; I don't trust the mail enough to have it shipped to me. How long do you guys think it will take before there aren't any lines at the retail stores?

Good luck with that:). I bought my iPhone 3Gs one week after launch and had to wait 1 1/2 hours in line. While I was waiting they ran out of 16GB phones in black and white. Fortunately they still had 32GB in black. Apple had a link on their website that show whether or not the store(s) in your area had the configuration you wanted but not how many they had. If you called the store they would acknowledge what they had in stock but not the number. I would think Apple would do the same for the iPad but who knows?

I find myself using my iPhone for general websurfing around the house, and other internet related fun. Since I don't own a laptop I'm really just excited to be able to do the same stuff on a much bigger screen, so I think I'm honestly most excited about just surfing the web on it. Everything else is just gravy.

I have had all three generations of the iPhone and I figured since I already have a 3GS, I can surf the web and get email and stuff with that and would be able to live with the Wifi iPad for a few weeks. I am very excited and can't wait for it to arrive to my house. When the 3G model is released, if possible, I am going to return my Wifi one and get the 3G. Couldn't stand not having one of the first ones.

Will Apple's return policies allow you to do this? Will you just have to pay a restocking fee?

The wait has really started to wear on me recently. I was amazed how quickly the last few months since the announcement have passed, but now that we're weeks away, I'm starting to feel it. I'll be happy enough just playing with some display models at the store until the 3G comes out. I'm also hoping that by then, there will be a solid selection of apps available with all the bugs worked out. Not to mention, accessories. I can't wait to get a nice leather folding sleeve for this thing, similar to Apple's.

It will be my first time in an Apple store... I'm glad I am not rich cause I would probably buy a few other things while I was waiting for the iPad. Needless to say I am excited, not just for the iPad but for the visit to the Apple store.

I can't wait for all the posts on why my iPad wasn't delivered today threads on April 3rd. Happens every time. Make for good forum reading. :D

:eek:Seriously? oh no...maybe I should just head down to the iStore to get my iPad I reserved instead of waiting around for Santa to show up.

After the basic introduction between me and "pad", I'll probably start testing how long the battery can last watching video, WiFI, 3G games etc..

That's exactly what I was going to do... I do that will all my devices, I don't trust what the manuals say.

First thing I think I'd do when I get my iPad is download iBooks and Pages. Then test the Japanese keyboard input, and play around with Pages to check the extent I can use it for my work. After that, load a free book or two into iBooks to read. Oh, then load up all my music concert videos onto the iPad. Also some movies and TV shows. Oh, and download some manga -- it'd be awesome to read them on the big iPad screen, no zooming in and out. Of course, I have to check some of my favorite websites on the iPad, including MacRumors. ;) Oh dear. Is there only 24 hours in a day? How long will it take me to do everything I want to do with my iPad??? :p

Apple knows how you feel, and will actually have Fed-Ex deliver an iPad-sized box to you two days early. You'll feel the joy of Christmas morn that your ipad is finally there, and rip open the box. Inside, Apple's clever packaging designers have built a puzzle of open this, slide that, flip it over, shake it up, hold a magnet to it, etc., to prolong the opening pleasure. Once inside, however, you find a single elegant folded note. You open it up to read:

Pre-ordered iPad will be delivered on April 3rd. Today is ...

APRIL FOOLS!
:D

So True! I think I'll be using it from the time I open it until I fall asleep, only to wake up the next morning and start all over. I'm interested in trying out the synchronization, backup, recovery/restore. Fun, fun, fun planned for that weekend.

So far I've managed to buy four new bags for the iPad that I haven't even laid eyes on yet! Today I was out at a local mall (not the one where the Apple store is) and wandered into Tumi, where I picked up a great tote bag that will be most excellent for toting my baby around when she's not being carried in one of my messenger bags or the Waterfield Portable Muzetto! Me, excited about the iPad?!!!
