You should get one because it helps with picking up chicks.
Well it definitely does not do that, but there are plenty of reasons to buy one. My sense is that most people who buy the Ipad love it; the product is not for everyone. Here are my usages:
What I use the Ipad for but rarely my computers or Iphone (Yes, I know most of these are technically feasible on a computer, but I just never enjoyed using them on my computer for them - and I own an MBA).
- Reading books, magazines, and comics
- Watching movies/TV - both downloaded and Netflix
- Playing games (I'll play quickly on the phone but just to waste time. Almost never on my computer)
- Second computer screen while at home/on the road (there's an app that basically makes the Ipad a second screen).
- Certain apps work better than the equivalent websites - e.g. Epicurious; NPR; BBC; NY Times;
- NBA Gametime - radio for all the games!
For checking e-mails and quick surfing, I grab whatever is most available and that's more often the Ipad than one of my two home laptops. Longer web searches, composing e-mails, documents etc... definitely traditional computer.
With all this mind, I use the Ipad at-least as much as any computer at home and the Ipad allows me to do many things that I just don't enjoy doing on a computer but love doing on the Ipad.
