Hi people,

Everything is in place, and tomorrow at about 4pm my extatic little brother will be coming to visit to pick up my one remaining PC (just some Samsung laptop). I'm now running soley on Apple hardware! Got a MacBook Pro for working around the house, road, wherever the hell I am. An iMac Core Duo with 500GB drive as media server, and for working in the study, and a whole bunch of Mac mini Core Duos connected up to each TV in the house, using 'Bonjour' with the iMac to get music and photos. Very nice setup, very happy I made the switch!

My girlfriend wasn't keen either. But I told her I was giving away all my PCs to my brothers and friends and that if she wanted PCs she could get a job and buy them herself and keep them in the annexe so I don't have to see them. She soom gave in and now she's very happy (particularly with the way the iMac shares all her music and photos with every mini (on every TV) i the house).

Wow, somebody's been on a spending spree! :p But cool, I can only dream of that kind of setup.

When my girlfriends PC died, I just got her a Mac Mini as a gift, cause I knew she most likely wouldn't switch otherwise!

Not that I'm suggesting that you take matters into your own hands, of course... *cough*

Great idea. When I buy a house I will put a mac in the office. If she wants to use the computer she will have to use the mac

Sounds like you've got a really nice setup. I'd love to replace my pc laptop with a macbook pro, but unfortunately I have to have the pc for work. Other than that, I'm all Mac and Linux. :)

You don't have to have the PC for work That's everyone's excuse. A Mac will run any good software (because any good software vendor recognizes Apple), will connect to Exchange email servers and will allow you to access shared drives. What more do you want? Oh, an excuse not to work "sorry sir, but my computer froze"

My remote access client only works on a windows machine.

My girlfriend keeps her Windows box to play Sims 2 on it. She can't keep her hands off my Mac for everything else.

What remote access client are you using? Are you sure there's not a Mac version?

It doesn't really hurt to have a PC around the house. If you already have it, might as well keep it around. You never know when you might need it.

Not to steal the thread as well, but I'm a CS student that is required to have access to asp.net framework. Unfortunately, Microsoft will never make that available to run on OSX. I love Apple, but sometimes you *have* to use a Windows machine, and I'd prefer not to have to use the computer lab every time I need to work on a project.

Yeah same here. Unfortunately, most schools teach MS proprietary technology to coincide with the buisness world which is MS dependent. While, one can use PHP, Java, or other muti-platorm or open source languages, I have to also use VB.Net to build an ASP.NET web app that runs on IIS. I keep an old P3 IBM laptop just for that. Other than that, I'm all Mac, even at work.

Yeah, we need a decent msn client, nobody has bothered to make one. Needs to have webcam and those cute customisable animated gif emoticons MSN has.

I've been a pc only person for years but I'm gradually making the switch across. I picked up a powerbook last june and haven't looked back yet. I still use a shuttle pc as my main rig as its a great machine. However my gf has a new mini I got last week and I've just replaced my pb with a MBP and I'm seriously considering getting a mini for my main rig. The main drawback is I've got to support windows users and its easier to use a pc and walk them through it on the phone with it front of me.

I used to use my pc for games but my xbox 360 is taking all that now. If apple or someone could get vista working natively on a mac I would ditch the pc in a heartbeat. Heck the specs of my MBP puts my pc to shame and its no slouch.
(P4 3.6ghz 2gb DDR 250gb HDD X800XTPE GFX versus 2.0ghz Dual Core , 2gb DDR2 100gb HDD and X1600 256mb gfx).
