For what it's worth, i think Apple should have just manned up and dealt with it

They did.

And they went on to sell more iPads.

Somebody's going to be charged with a crime, we'll just have to wait a couple of months to see who it is. No one really cares about what happens to Gizmodo at this point, anyway.

I agree with Tilpots, but I also think that it's petty to ban a site's representative that would only increase the exposure of Apple's new product. I guess Apple figures it doesn't need Gizmodo to help it with that though.

Maybe Steve is just pissed that Gizmodo spoiled his big unveiling

Apple doesn't need gizmodo to 'increase their exposure'. Just like engadget, it is a site frequented by nerds with feature fetish.

Another thing.
If a company (Apple) has a criminal complaint pending against another company (Gizmodo) and an employee (Jason Chen), then it's probably not wise for them to invite said company to an event they are having.

The obvious answer. Some people seem to be missing it, though.

Seems kind of petty and vindictive by apple to do this.

Stuff like this only helps promote anti-apple sentiment.

Exactly, I understand why Apple did it, but it seems like something that came from Jobs, rather than Apple, it is definitely petty. But, Gizmodo banning users is pretty petty as well, don't do something controversial if you think you're not going to have any criticism for it.

Jizzmodo wasn't invited to WWDC 2010 Keynote...

Both MacRumors and Engadget were invited while the douche-bags over at Jizzmodo are left in isolation, slowly losing their audience, dying...

Chen probably thinks he's a badass by having an exclusive view at the next-gen iPhone...now he's in the s*** hole, going to jail for sure.

I sure hope Apple does everything possible to get Chen to his rightful place...JAIL

have people forgotten that a Gizmodo editor has been banned for life from the CES trade show for a stunt they pulled a few years back.

We have been informed of inappropriate behavior on the show floor by a credentialed media attendee from the Web site Gizmodo, owned by Gawker Media. Specifically, the Gizmodo staffer interfered with the exhibitor booth operations of numerous companies, including disrupting at least one press event. The Gizmodo staffer violated the terms of CES media credentials and caused harm to CES exhibitors. This Gizmodo staffer has been identified and will be barred from attending any future CES events. Additional sanctions against Gizmodo and Gawker Media are under discussion.

They'll never learn their lesson.

They got what they deserved. After that CES stunt and now this iPhone thing, I'm really not surprised. Always thought Engadget>gizmodo.

I don't know, I've always enjoyed Gizmodo's sarcasm and occasional technophillia, although not as "journalistic" as some would want. I'll agree that other sources are better for news, but for a guy who likes a bit of entertainment with his tech feeds, adding it to the pot isn't a bad thing.

The argument here shouldn't be about the legality of Giz's actions or opinions about their style, but rather thoughts on Apple's choice. I'm not surprised, considering Steve's comments on not ditching values at D the other night. Seems like this is his way of hitting them where it hurts, especially because Apple stories are a major part of what they cover.

This is irritating. In my opinion Gizmodo had the best live coverage out of all the tech/apple sights. I think Steve needs to grow up!

People here seem to be missing this obvious point.
