I've had both. Both are good. Both aren't *that* different. It's not night and day, it's looking at a computer from many angles to figure out if yours is glossy or matte. For what matters I have a glossy MBP right now, but my next one would probably be a matte.
 
This has been discussed before, and the general consensus is that while the threads can seem repetitive, poster always have the option of not posting or reading such threads. In addition, some posters have unique circumstances and their threads deserve as much attention as older threads have.

tell me, how this guy's situation is any more special than the trillion other people who asked. This guy just asked the most basic question regarding this issue: what is the difference Gloss vs. Matte, and what are the pros and cons. I am positive that this has been answered already. We've already gone over:
1. what's better for color reproduction
2. what is better for movies and images
3. Disadvantages of both
4. Advantages of both


True, a forum is for discussion, but not for repetitive topics that are literally asked at least once a month, and have little variation in between. And 99% by new users. And thank you, Scarlet, for proving my point. :)
 
If you arent sure, get matte, because you can hate glossy but you cant hate matte.

Like I said, other posters have asked this question, and the Mods have indicated that it's better to encourage searching, but that in the end, if there is a thread about it, you can ignore it;)

However, arn says that the search feature has been greatly improved now, so if we encourage more users to search, we might get fewer threads like this. It really comes down to a honey v vinegar thing.

Yes, and I'm sure there will be twice as many new ones today. Again, if you don't care to repeat yourself, just move on. It'll save you some grief. :)
 
I like the glossy screens as opposed to the iMac "glass' screens. Way too much reflection, it is like CRT all over again.
 
Matte is the way to go. Still has amazing color and looks great for movies. It also is the best choice for those who are outside or are in bright places a lot, because glossy is...glossy.
