Maybe it's just me. The new app seems faster. I hope they add to the settings in a future release, particularly the "filter messages like this" option from the desktop version. Very handy.

I managed to roll back to an older version as it was downloaded on my iTunes app folder. I removed the new one and installed the old one directly from iTunes. I then disabled automatic app updates but it's a small price to pay until they sort this mess out! :)

I had to experiment with a few other email apps after this update, it's terrible and definitely a step backwards. The previous gmail version was easy to use, I could delete email easily, I could choose to open links in chrome if I wanted, and it was easy on the eyes. The update negated all of these, ugly and harder to use.

I decided to go with Email, very similar to the former gmail.

Are there any email apps that look and function the way the previous GMail app did with boxes for selecting emails and both Archive and Trash options being available? I hate the new app.

You can tap the profile image to select multiple emails!

My biggest frustration is that it doesn't remember what label you were in when you switch back and forth between accounts like the old one did. I don't want to start in "important and unread" each time, as an example.

I've been using the Outlook Mail app for the time being. I did not have a copy of the old app and honestly I wasn't too impressed with that one to begin with.

If anyone wants an old copy i am happy to upload it online

You talking about 4.x right? if so, please.
Not that im using it (or any other mail app except the build-in one), but if i need would be nice to have the older version just in case coz the new one is just dreadful.

I've used gmail for a long time. With the old version when I clicked on a link it would open in Chrome,my preferred browser. Now it poems in safari. Is there any way to changed this?
Looks like you can set that option in settings using the latest Gmail app update.

Has anybody figured out how to get HTML signatures into the new version of Gmail? It keeps stripping the HTML from mine and won't copy what's in Gmail desktop anymore...

I really hate this new inbox version of the gmail app.

For those who have it, how do you navigate to the next email without going back to the index list.

The old version just let you swipe to the left or right while the email is open.

I may have to start using the Outlook app as it's navigation is much easier.
Looks like the ability to navigate between messages with swipes has returned with the latest update that was just released today.
