I've had an intermittent problem that won't seem to go away. I will put my Macbook Pro to sleep. I confirm that it is asleep. The fans turn off and it cools down. I will leave it at home all day. I will come back after a long day and it is still cool and asleep. I won't touch it. I will leave it again for a while and when I come back it is blazing hot and crashed. I can't wake it and am forced to do a hard reset. What could be going on? I do not have any "wake for remote access" settings or anything like that. Someone had suggested a rogue process somewhere. If that is true is there some way I can discover what process would be waking it up? And why would waking it up also cause it to overheat and crash? It doesn't ever overheat when I am actually using it. It is also an early 2008 Macbook Pro so maybe age is a factor. But I'd really like to pinpoint the problem.
