I agree I think it’s the weight and the slight increase in size that is going to concern me about the new Max. I have always had big phones but they’re getting heavier every year . My max arrives on Friday but if the weight increase is noticeable then I will return for a pro
It’s a couple of mm taller and weighs 1 gram more then the 11 pro max. I had the 11 pro max before the 12 pro. It’s the battery life that I’m not a fan of as a power user on the 12 pro. With that said if there was no max I’d be just firm with the 12 pro.

Got my UAG case for the Pro Max yesterday. Comparing it to my 8+ in an OtterBox case it’s the same height, slightly less wide and definitely thinner. New case is also lighter so I have no concerns about size or weight.

Suddenly my iPhone 11 Pro Max looks small after I got the iPhone 12PM case .

My wife‘s reaction to her opportunity to upgrade from her 7 was „Do I have to?“.
Fortunately, she doesn’t really care, but is looking forward to it now.

I chose the Gold for the 12PM primarily because it will be her phone eventually, and she loves Gold Apple devices. :)

And the X is still a very good phone!
My wife was using iPhone X and I told her to buy iPhone 12. She was least interested to buy a new iPhone but still I convinced her to buy iPhone 12 lol.

She hardly uses her iPhone

I stuck with my iPhone X for 3 years, which was the longest I ever had an iPhone model.
I‘m still very happy with it, and my wife will be very happy with it going forward, too, replacing her 7, which will be passed on to the kids.

Nevertheless, I went for the iPhone 12 Pro Max (256/Gold/AC+) and also ordered pretty much all available accessories (MagSafe Charger, Transparent and Leather case, Wallet and Belkin car mount) as I just love the iPad Pro - like design, the near-perfect camera(s) and the raw power of the A14.

I think this phone may even be more future-proof and last longer for me than my X, just as the iPad Pro 2018 will still be good for another at least 2-3 years.

These devices have reached a level of performance that makes it easy to keep them longer and longer.

I love it!

iPhone 12 Pro Max is easily the most futuristic, powerful and best iPhone Apple has ever made. It is packed full of incredible new technologies that will keep you delighted for years and years. I have no doubt it will meet your longevity expectations should you choose to keep using it for 2-5 years.

Congratulations on your purchase!

OtterBox cases are quite chunky aren't they.
They were. This case, an Apple exclusive, was in the mid range. Sadly, the current OtterBox cases (other than the Defender) don’t appear to be protective enough for me, so I got this UAG case for now.

Anyone going to use the MAX careless??
I love using a caseless iPhone. I may go with utomic.com for this round. Had the "edges" on my XS the phone took a big drop, flipped in the air a few times, landed on concrete and bounced a bit. I picked it up, no damage.
Didn't order for my 11ProMax, but once they are available (Dec. I think) I'll get some edges for the 12PM along with a screen protector.

I'm a minimalist traveler (1 26L bag for all trips) but don't care about the weight of the phone itself. For accessories like chargers/cables etc, I try to reduce weight as much as possible as I'm schlepping through airports.

When not traveling, I'm not worries much about weight. To be honest, unless it is a literal brick I don't notice it. I wear a reinforced belt with my pants, which really helps me not feel any weight. Plus, I already have over 30oz of "stuff" shoved in my waistband held by the best at all times (when not traveling). The extra few oz doesn't bother me one bit.

I am currently using a magnetic holder for my X, with a metal plate between the phone and the case.
If MagSafe is working somewhat like that, I don‘t see a problem.

My Renault‘s vent grid is pretty firm, my wife‘s Hyundai‘s vents do the same your car‘s vents are doing.
Depends heavily on the car.

I bought MagSafe silicone case for my 12, and it is not strong enough for my magnetic mount in my car. I still have to put the magnet plate in the case for it to hold.

I was also thinking to go to the Pro Max from the X this year but I ordered the Pro instead because I thought it was going to be too big for me.

Check my photos comparing my old X with the new Pro. It actually looks bigger and with a bigger screen (that I like) but just the right size to use it well with one hand. For me, I think the Pro Max + Case would be too much big for normal one-handed use.

I am a heavy camera user and I also like a bigger battery but in the end, the size to be happy using the type of cases I like (wallet) + be portable well on my pockets and using with just one hand is more important. I thought to move from X to Pro and then maybe in future generations to the Pro Max will be less traumatic for me.

I think in the end depends on how you use your phone. In my case, I walk a lot on the streets and use the camera all the time, and to carry something that is less portable makes me worry.
