IMO the back is too pink, otherwise the band looks fine. I went with the space grey and love it.

I figured it would be mixed opinions. That's why I went the safe route and got space grey. My X was silver, and I haven't had a black phone in several years.

Opinions are always mixed, but I think the gold looks much better in person. That being said, I’m going to go with the silver. It’s got a classy look and is very understated.

I was going to get space grey but went with the gold. It has a slight hue of pink in certain lights...and at other times it is just gold. I don’t usually like gold but this one looks nice.

Eh, I thought the same thing in the store. Guy next to me said he wanted one, but he really wasn't a huge fan of the pinkish color even if it was getting put in a case. I'll say that it does look fantastic under the right lighting though. Unfortunately, they only had Space Gray and Silvers left at my store.
Silver/whitish is still my favorite tone for iPhones
[doublepost=1537584582][/doublepost]I saw the Gold at a Apple store today and it looked amazing.

I think the SS edge on mine has got a more bronze or dark copper colour than gold. In natural daylight the back looks “cafe latte” until you move it to get that shiny gold look. Awesome colour regardless and I’m usually a stanch black/space grey supporter. :)

The back's awful. With my matt black case it'd look ok, as only the sides are seen. But I'd still get the Space Grey.

These 'fad' colours used to promote >$1000 devices aren't even in contention.

I’m not sold on it yet. The lighting is dim in my house so I’ll get a better look tomorrow when I’m out, but I’m thinking of maybe swapping it out for space grey. Hate that I’d have to pay a restocking fee but having a color that I don't like for a whole yr would drive me crazy lol

When I saw first saw the iPhone Xs/Xs Max in gold during its initial presentation it really popped on the screen. To me the shade of gold made the phone appear almost like a gold bar. However, as I read posts with photos or watch YouTube videos of unboxings the gold phone appears to me as a mute pastel pink.

Can anyone explain why this is happening? Also, can anyone definitively state that IRL the ‘gold’ phone really appears as it did during the video?

I ask because I am not in the States at the moment and won’t be back for a couple months (no Apple stores in Ecuador).

I think it’s really difficult to capture what this phone looks like on video. You’re going to have to check it out yourself. Going by some of the odd “pink” comments I’d guess there is either some subjective perceptual differences between people (really, it looks coppery/bronze to me) or there are differences between phones.

It's not at all pink - it's Mother of Pearl!

I love iridescence in objects. It's why Delphinium is my favorite flower, and my Mother of Pearl is my favorite kitchen backsplash that I've ever seen in person.

The vast majority of people use a case, and color of phone becomes meaningless.

I certainly hope my Pitaka case delivery doesn’t get held up much longer as this is one slippery mf phone. And when that case is on, I guess that back won’t be seen until I change it out in 3 years.

My own preference, even without a case, I eventually get to the point right don’t care about the color anymore. It’s just the first thing you select one buying a new iPhone, but I don’t really value others opinion on the color of my iPhone either.

Look under Display and Brightness" You should see the True Tone toggle at the top.
It’s not there. I reset my phone like 10 times and only once did it show up. I rebooted to see what would happen, and it’s gone again. Looks like I’ll have to return it due to hardware issues out of the box.

I ended up getting gold since space gray wasn’t available in-store, and I don’t like the silver finish. I liked how the device looks, but I’m still going to wait a few days before sharing my final decision on wether or not I’ll keep it or replace it for space gray (when it becomes available).
