Update on my experience...

I served my 30 day sentence for GS’ inability to verify my identity and for following the instructions to “retry if I thought it was in error.” I actually waited a full 45 days just to be safe.

Tried again today — only five scan attempts before it accepted my perfectly clear and glare free photo of my (valid and unexpired) driver’s license this time. I was again immediately denied because they could not verify my identity.

Called GS only to learn that I’m again sentenced to a 30 day wait before I can apply again because I again tried too many times. In this case, too many times was one apparently. Still no explanation of why they can’t verify my identity when I’ve provided every piece of information they asked for and followed their instructions to the letter.

Maybe I’ll try again if Apple decides to partner with a bank that possesses a minimum of competence.

I’m sorry, but if they’re treating you so badly you should definitely try the competition instead of begging them for a card. There are literally hundreds of options.

Oh, no begging from me. I would like to have the card, but I don’t need it.

Feels like Soviet bureaucracy. Why did Apple associate with a company that doesn’t know how to run a credit card business!!! Would have been solved right away with any other credit card company!

So, you lived in the USSR? (Otherwise, how would you know what "Soviet bureaycracy" feels like? Genuinely curious.

FWIW, I have not had any issues with GS/Apple Card regarding large purchases... used it to purchase a new MBP (> $2500, paid it off) then to purchase a new television ($1300, paid it off). Both charge went through with no feedback/pushback... both purchases were done within a 2 week time frame.

However, I have seen reports of issues similar to yours (less the "Soviet bureaucracy" reference)... sorry for your experience...
