On my iPhone
This guy asked for recommendations for a 2 year old kid... obviously pull my finger is not appropriate. There are a couple of apps my kid absolutely loves... one is Spawn Illuminati, and the other is iLava. He can even turn on the iPhnoe and start the apps himself!

Yeah you're right, farts are forbidden and not funny when you're 2.

hi neilw!

you can let her play with our app, its called "Winter" (App Store). The current version (1.0) may not seem much fun for a 2 year old (just a snowman where she can play with the snow) but version 1.1 will be out in a few days which features more comic-like objects and and flying santa to play with. (my little niece likes it a lot :) )

You can have a free promotional key for the current version and if you like it, one for version 1.1 as well once it is in the store. just send me an email at winter@nodeflexion.com

Me again. So far we've tried a few, including "Henry and Hailey's Preschool Pals", "Koi Pond", "Dizzy Bee", "Scribble", and "Preschool Adventure". They're all nicely made, but so far her interest has been limited. Generally about 30 seconds of seeing it is followed by a demand of "another one!". :p

Videos, on the other hand, are a huge hit. We have some Disney and Pixar movies, and "Tigger and Pooh" (her favorite) and a couple other TV shows.

Anyway, she's still learning how to use the thing. We'll see how it goes as she becomes more adept with the touch screen. I think it's actually a decent fine-motor skills exercise; her first attempts are certainly somewhat clumsy, and something she can refine over time.

As expected, the hard part is getting the iPod back. Our first attempt at taking it away was, um, somewhat less than successful. It does suggest that it'll be a very effective time-waster on the airplane.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I will continue to report back as I learn more.

That would be why my little one is getting a nano like her big sisters! LOL!! They already take my iPod to play games on it... they can play it themselves now!

It should work great for what you are planning - it did for us :D

I have a 4 month old girl, and I've already been exposing her to the iPhone (since she was 2 months old, actually). I have a Baby Einstein DVD and Monsters Inc. loaded on the phone. It's a terrific pacifier when she gets ansy while we're out and about. Most of the time, as soon as I turn it on, the cries stop and she becomes transfixed by it. Of course, I have to sit there and hold it in front of her, but it works. Brief disclaimer: I don't use it to replace tending to her needs, but if she is fed and changed, but still just needs something to occupy her, it works terrific. It is also a good distraction if she has a tummy ache or runny nose and just needs something to take her mind off of it.

As for Apps, Bloom is great for infants. I turn it on, set the delay to max, and hold it close to her hand. If she's in the right mood, she'll swipe at the screen which plays the notes and colorful graphics. She loves it. Koi pond is another good one.

I have also played tunes on Ocarina for her a few times. I've had limited success pacifying her with the White Noise program, and I have some Baby Mozart music loaded as well.
