It is close enough to the WDC to wait for that. There nay be addition guidance provided there.

This is a popular question on this forum. Typically people will tell you to wait. Chances are, the only thing you might benefit from this Macworld 2007 is iLife 07. There haven't been any rumors about new updates with the Macbook and/or Macbook Pro. There is however a rumor about a possible smaller macbook and thinner.

So you can wait, its only 5 more days. But to be honest, I don't think you would regret buying your macbook today or tomorrow.

updates are unlikely at mwsf. if you can wait until leopard comes out, whenever that might be, then wait to have it as part of the package. there are tons of posts on here literally, tons, that give very detailed analysis of this question, give them a shot, I think they will prove interesting and helpful. Whatever you do though, just wait less than a week to ensure nothing crazy happens and know that you are getting an awesome machine. If you need more technical answers I will gladly field them after you take a quick trip through the threads, you won't be disappointed. :D

I am sure we will start seeing a lot of "Waiting for Santa Rosa" posts, that will try to predict the summer macbook model:D

yeah, but lets change that to leopard will come with your macbook;) if you are willing ti wait until the summer, something I actually am planning on doing myself, then you will definitely have leopard included. You will also very likely have iLife 07 and iWork 07 available for purchase, in addition to several other constantly developing applications. In terms of the actual hardware, you can feel confident to see some nice upgrades, at least as far as the MBP goes.Specifically, intel upgrades related to front bus, integration of 802.11n for improved wireless, increased HDD capacity. I am only listing what are the very strong and likely increases since you wanted a more conservative analysis, for the full spectrum of goodies check out all the posts here, there are tons of ideas floating around. oh and of course we will see what happens with the constant core evolution.

yes 3:29 am is the best time to buy a MB.
;)

It is right on the apple website, you will need to go there anyway to check it out... or go to one of your local "mac specialists" who have decent deals sometimes, if you don't mind also potentially walking out with a bad case of the clap.

ha ha. But if you bought one at 3:29 am then when people asked you when you got it you could say 3:29 am. But anyways I went to the apple website but they didnt have any refurbished c2d macbooks. I might just get a macbook pro but then I would have to sell my ps3:(

The only reason to wait is because of iLife 07. The only other thing that could possibly happen is a speed bump, but that is unlikely.

I'm pretty sure that this has been asked before;but:

"Would a refurb get the upgraded OS and iLife????"

Apple isn't usually the first company to jump on the new technology band wagon. Usually Dell does that. I haven't see any 2.66ghz or read anything about it so I agree, unlikely any speed boost.

You got that right! This will be my first mac purchase. I'd hate to buy one now, only to have X3000, 800 FSB in the MB this summer.

I just got one today

I just gota refurbished 17" C2D to replace the busted one I had to return. I thought about waiting for Santa Rosa, but I need one before the summer, as my gateway cow pie is getting kind of old and unreliable.

I was waiting for this weeks event to purchase a 17 MBP just to make sure nothing new is announced. No new news about the MBP lineup however, in these forums I noticed lot of concernes about the quality of the screens. Some might be true some might not be due to the fact that people become picky when they spent $3K+ for a notebook.

I am going to wait little more since

New OS in the horizon
New Apps will be coming out iLife, iWork etc
There seems to be few concerns with the quality of the LCD
There might be a hardware upgrade next 6 months (FSB, CPU, video card, etc)

The fact that 17" screen has a 1680x1050 resolution is unbelievable for a product that is so sleek. It needs to have at least 1920x1200 with a nice video card at least that is what I am hoping. Anyway, few more months for me I guess.
