iPhone goodbye jailbreak

After having a jailbroken iphone 4 for about 2 weeks, I think I'm going to restore it to the stock iOS. I've had nothing but crash after crash after installing and deleting multiple apps and tweaks. It's just too unreliable for me. Other than theming the phone and having some neat little tweaks, there's nothing really that I need that the stock iOS doesn't already offer me, other than reliaiblity. So while it's been a fun little ride, I'm switching back. As I'm typing this now, I can't even get my phone to turn on. The only thing I will really miss is Forecast. The current apps/tweaks I have installed that have been crashing my phone are as follows:

Appcent
Winterboard with Ayecon
Springtomize 2
Forecast
LivelyIcon
Nitrous
Barrel
SwipeSelection
iCleaner
Bars
CameraTweak
Color keyboard w/Phatbook Air theme
KillBackground

As people have told me, it's not the jailbreak that makes it laggy, it's the outdated, non-optimized apps. Granted, I switched back to stock-iOS two days ago. I'm happy.
 
There's nothing that you really need but you install over 16 packages:D
Takes some legwork to find out what things you installed are causing the issues and then avoid them and keep things that work and are solid.
That's what the rest of us do.
There's many outdated items on cydia and things that are buggy.
Just by a quick look I'd remove nitrous, killbackground and icleaner cause I heard those are either buggy or have issues with the new JB.

It's not the jailbreak, it's a certain tweak. Auxo was initially unstable but I run it fine now with the occasional respring.

If your phone won't turn on, power it on while holding the volume up button. This forces it into safe mode so you can uninstall any troubling tweaks.
 
I love having my phone jailbroken. I jailbroke my old 3GS but didn't break my 4S. Now that I broke my 5 I am loving all the tweaks I missed for almost two years.

Yes there are some bugs to deal with sometimes but they are minor and well worth it IMHO.
 
After a few weeks with JB on my iPhone 5....I feel like I downgraded from a nice german sports car.... to a honda with tacky mods like: glowing lights under the car, giant spoiler and a fart can for an exhaust.
 
Jailbreaking is the only thing keeping me from switching to Android, and depending on a phone call tonight, it might not be enough.

I'm just so BORED of the app interface. I ADORE android widgets and windows live tiles. So much more interesting and interactive.

That's because you downloaded tacky crap.
 
It's probably Auxo. Even though they say it's fixed it really isn't. Not worth the memory for such a minor tweak. I remove auxo and bam no random resprings.
 
I game Auxo enough try but got rid of it finally. Crash reporter was pointing to it for many crashes.


Also, I don't install too many tweaks and my phone is pretty stable.

You load your device down with ****, then decide the problem is with the jailbreak itself and not something YOU did.

Try not loading everything you find on your device. They are never supposed to crash. But if you load incompatible junk on there, it will.
 
Yes, it's Auxo, it was causing random reboots and springboard crashes until I removed it. Now my JB is working like a charm.

That's part of my frustration. I don't know what's incompatible and what tweaks work with others and what not. I've downloaded and deleted so many different combinations of apps and tweaks and I still have multiple crashes a day. It's really annoying. I don't have the tech background to see how the memory is effected and how to make my iphone run efficiently. Maybe I'll just leave it up to all you brilliant tech minds :D

If you don't install absolutely everything, no lag will be introduced.

As a programmer, I routinely check the CPU usage of my iDevices (most of them jailbroken so that I can use at least f.lux.) I heavily recommend doing the same for everyone encountering lagging. Using the "top" command (it's in Cydia) via SSH is pretty straightforward.

Here's my quick tutorial on all this:

MobileTerminal / SSH / ps / top

If your device is jailbroken, you may already installed either OpenSSH or MobileTerminal (or both). To set up the former (the recommended approach, as it doesn't need to be run in the foreground), just follow the steps explained in the front page of Cydia, under “OpenSSH Access How-To”.

As soon as you gain access to the command prompt, either local (MobileTerminal) or remote (OpenSSH), you'll notice the standard jailbroken distros lack the “ps” command, which, at least on “full” OS'es like Mac OS X, is needed to quickly check out CPU usage. It needs to be installed separately from Sections > Administration > adv-cmds. However, there's no “CPU” or “STIME” column in the iOS build of PS (check out THIS for more info on handling them) so it's completely useless for our purposes.

“Top” for the rescue! While it's pretty much useless under Mac OS X (as opposed to the just-discussed PS), it delivers the same (very good) constantly-updated CPU usage results on iOS as Instruments. A screenshot of this (again, showing the CPU usage during Suzumiya decoding):

“Top” is in the “top” package under Sections > Administration in Cydia. As with adv-cmds, it's only available if you've declared yourself to be a Developer at initially starting Cydia. If you haven't, you can always change it by going to Sources > Settings.

I can tell you right now that certain tweaks you have installed such as Springtomize 2, Forecast, SwipeSelection, and Appcent make it worthwhile to keep your Jailbreak. Personally, I've been Jailbroken for several days now, and can't envision myself returning to stock iOS. A JBroken iPhone is light years ahead of what Apple currently has to offer. I've only had one crash incident where the phone booted into safe mode, and it was related to the AnimateAll and Bootlogo I installed; I quickly removed both and have been bug/crash free ever since. Current tweaks I've installed are:

My phone has been rock solid and I personally have no need for Auxo or Winterboard, as I could care less about eye candy. I'm more concerned with functionality. Get rid of Auxo if that's causing problems, you'll regret giving up your JBreak once Apple releases update 6.1.3. Good luck!

^^ This is obviously the reason for your issues. ^^
There are compatibility charts to avoid the incompatible apps/tweaks.

Everytime you load something onto your iDevice, even after you remove it - something remains - preferences, .plists, etc

I have 117 tweaks/apps/hacks on my iPhone 5 (which includes the fundamental & support packages).
I do not have crashes, battery issues or slowdowns.

But then again, I have not installed then deleted a bunch of crap.
Those things on my phone are tested and working without conflicts on 6.1.2

Jailbreaking is not for you. It really is that simple. You said "there's nothing really that I need that the stock iOS doesn't already offer me", that's it, restore to stock and be happy. I don't even know why you made this thread.
 
Maybe in awhile you can try again.

There are easy ways to find bad tweaks, like in SBsettings/more/mobilesubstrate addons you can disbale all tweaks and turn them on 1by1 to find the bad tweak, no need to uninstall.

Also make sure you have official apps, some pirated apps cause problems.

What also helps is to install 1 tweak for a specific task not 2 or more tweaks for the same task, they might interfere with eachother.

Pitty jailbreaking didn't work out for you, most people have no problems.
My 4S is running very smooth and is loaded with apps/tweaks.
 
SwipeShiftCaret is so much better then SwipeSelection. With SwipeSelection, you can't drag from the ?123 button to what symbol or number you want. So invaluable to be able to do this
