Gotta be in it to win it
Glad the discussion was clarified that the purchases and backups of IT shops are being discussed. I know the IT shop of my company doesn’t have two of anything, it has a hundred of everything. But if that who this discussion is targeted against, glad that the OP clarified about fanboyism and logic. /s

again...this thread was created to share how I was without a phone for 6 days while a replacement was in process.
Someone pointed out that for the price of 2 Pixel 3a you could buy 1 iPhone....not sure why you felt the need to defend Apple for that statement of fact..... Glad we are not involving fanboyism or being brand apologetic /s

So I bought a new Pixel 3 XL during the Google Fi promo.
Love the P3 XL...huge fan. It has become my daily driver and IMHO offers the best Android user experience.
Did not like Fi so canceled service and have been using the P3 XL on Verizon and all has been great!

Yesterday my P3 XL turned off while on a wireless charger....boom...no reason. Could not get it to power back. Tried everything I could find...plugged it into using the original charger and cable...nothing.
Called Google support...they walked me through a few things. But it would not power back on again.
They sent shipping labels to send the defective device back. No worries...it happens sometimes..I get it.
They setup a replacement to be sent out....only when they receive my phone back and verify it is a warranty replacement.
Bad customer service.....now I am without my phone for about 10 days.
They would not budge on this. I called twice.....they offered to put a hold on my bank account for the full price of a new one and send a replacement out on Monday. Still bad customer service IMHO.
My device was defective...not my fault and it should not take this long to get a replacement.

This is where Apple and it's retail store presence is so valuable. I have had defective iPhones over the years...but quick stop at a Apple store and i walk out with a replacement.
Anyway...that is my rant for the day
Thanks for reading :)

I never thought google had customer service, there is no 800 number to call, it’s up to the user and the os is terrible.

Yes, I agree /s And the question still stands, would you buy two phones in the future to guard against this type of issue happening?

I would and wonder /s if you would have participated in this thread if iPhones had not been mentioned in a post /s seems like that was the apologetic trigger for you...

So glad that you would /s to save yourself the trouble of bad google customer service. Of course buying another phone almost guarantees better response than an online return or going to the store.

Of course when discussing anything there seems to be apologetic triggers galore for iphones /s.
