I wouldn't be too quick to blame Apple. I don't believe Google docs is full HTML, last I heard it was still HTML4 and Java based, not HTML5 yet.

I use Docs 2 Go Premiuim to download, edit and re-sync my Google docs- works like a dream for my needs.

And even though I don't really need it in addition to this, I use Memeo Connect app to view the docs so I can really quickly access docs that my colleagues upload or edit on the go....the interface is so purdy.....:)

does this work with dropbox????

The new Docs editor shows some possibility for GDocs on iPad. It uses javaScript instead of editable HTML. There's a post on the official Docs blog that explains how the new editor is different. This should allow the iPad to edit documents using the desktop version. However, at this point in time, you cannot scroll or pull up the keyboard in the new editor on iPad. I expect this will be fixed, but I think the focus is on getting the editor out and polished for the desktop first.

I don't know, but Google has shown us over and over again that they are willing to bring their products/services to any platform. They are not out there to make money off of hardware or services, they just want to make money off their ads. This is in stark contrast to another company we are so fond of which likes to keep their products and service very exclusive to their platform only.

Hey Guys,
I thought I'd be able to by pass Pages in favor of Google Docs...looks like apple aint letting this go down! ha. You can read docs no problem, but you CAN'T edit them. Very very sneaky there apple. This of course is on the newly "iPad Ready" version of google docs.

The readabledocs app will handle all of this for you.
