I wonder how many phones will be compatible with this in the future. I didn't think many phones are compatible with both CDMA and gsm.

Sprint has had very aggressive anti sim unlocking stance in the past, which is why their second hand phones tend to be the cheapest

I believe iPhone should be compatible
Problem with this is you need a custom ROM to get it working. In this case, Google is making the custom ROM.

Technologically, Google Fi is similar to Republic Wireless with the added complexity of being able to switch to T-Mobile - not something you can do with a fairly restricted app. You're really gonna need access at the firmware level. Unless Apple starts allowing Google to install custom ROMs on iPhones, I just don't see this service making its way to the iPhone.
