What are your guys thoughts on the product? I mean set aside the price of how much it will cost and set aside any stupid comments such as "oh it'll look stupid on people". Focusing on the actual product itself what do you think?

At first I was against glass but the more I see it and the more I think about how technology has been changing people the more I think this will revolutionize the term "personal computer" the way that Apple changed the term "smartphone".

I honestly think that this can be a chance for someone other than Apple to take lead in something.

I mean if Apple's comeback is a "rumored" (key word) iWatch then idk... that iWatch better do holograms or something.

Just image if this is the first step just image when they just become wearable contacts? Maybe then the iPhone will truly be an eyephone.

Too many privacy violations to list :p.

It is great if you are wearing them, not so great for the other person. That is what I don't like about it.

I am against anything that can give a corporation "god" status in the future society.

Both the Verge and Google's own video of Glass have sold me on the product. Really amazing stuff.

I don't understand this point of view. It doesn't let you see 'more' than you can with your own eyes.

Regardless, I think it's inevitable. Within the next decade chips will be so small and so cheap that they'll be unavoidable.

He probably means privacy violations for other people, like being able to take a video or picture of them with no visual cue.

It is not just a viewing accessory.

Anyways, I say good luck to my next generation.

I'll pass and just wait for the Apple's iBall. iOS in my eye socket sounds good.

I wear glasses. They're a pain in the a$$, as almost anybody who wears them will tell you. This looks like it would be a good product for helicopter pilots (oh, wait...), but for average consumer, not so much IMO. I am sure some people would find a niche for Glass, but I predict that this will be Google's equivalent of Newton - a good idea but not quite there yet.

I wear glasses too and Google have said "people who wear glasses will use this no problem"

Im hoping it's not like 1 glasses manufacturer in maybe the USA will have support, I live in the UK and Im betting I wont be able to walk into Vision Express and have lenses made for Google Glass. Im hoping this thing hooks up and shares your phones data plan, I'd prefer not to have a separate data plan for a pair of glasses, also any word on battery life?

Like when I'm pretending or actually talking on the phone snapping pictures now? All I have to do is press the volume up on my iPhone and snap away while holding the phone to my ear.

I think that's a lot less noticeable then someone saying "Glass....take a picture" while they are starring at you. Lol

Is that the only way to take pictures? I wouldn't be surprised if there are buttons on the final product.

Also people are less likely to expect glasses to take a picture of them than a phone :p

Anyway it wasn't my post, I was just guessing that he meant other people's privacy, as I can't see any privacy concerns for the user (other than theft?)

Or they leave the video capture on and then walk out? Who is stopping them?

Huh?

No one is. Who stops anyone from recording by any means? If you are in public you don't have expectation of privacy so its not against the law.

It's still more obvious if a guy with goofy glasses is starring at you vs someone casually talking on a cell phone and secretly recording you.

I could put my iPhone in a front shirt pocket and record first person. No one can stop me, assuming I don't go into a place with expectation of privacy (bathroom, locker room, etc)

To the people who are opposed to it because of privacy violations..

1. Would you think that an implant that could accomplish the same/better function would be acceptable?

2. Why are you afraid of being watched by some random weirdo? Are you self-concious or do you have something to hide?

It's not as if this is a camera system installed on every street corner in the USA that the Police/FBI watch.. its for personal entertainment.

If it is in your prescription lenses or the regular eye glasses, no one can even suspect it.

I can tell someone is trying to take footage from a smartphone. Too easy to tell. I have the option to detect it and move away.

As for the hidden camera, well show me where you can get those military grade tiny cameras with powerful capture capabilities that public has access to.

Would you like it if you are walking with your family down the park and I stand on the side and take pictures of you guys without permission or saying anything? Would you shrug and walk away? Are you cool with that?

I am not.

Sure Google says it would still work, however I think the weight of the hardware on the glasses would get annoying. I wear glasses too and when they slide down my nose a bit it gets pretty annoying. Add a few more ounces to that and it'll be even worse.

I like the concept, but I think we are a little ways away from them being awesome.

Yeah that's how I feel. Concept is there but idk how long before it becomes "perfected". Again just image when and if they get to a point that it just becomes wearable contacts?

I'm all for it. Yeah they look weird now, but if the idea takes off we all know Google will aggressively streamline the product and make them friendly for people with Rx lenses.

Would I wear them? Yeah here and there, but not on the regular. Still I think the tech is amazing and I am a huge fan of innovation like this. If the price came down a little I'd buy a pair, no question about it.

I totally agree. And Google Now is a perfect companion to Google Glass.

I'd buy Glass today if I could - even at the 1500 USD price. The final retail product arriving late 2013 will probably be a lot cheaper - they are going for the mass market (maybe not in the first generation though), and not just geeks with money to burn.
