The thing that kind of snags me on the price is that, this is a companion to your phone. It doesn't do anything your phone doesn't do, and you need to pair it with your phone to really use it. I know the price will come down, but I wonder how much.

A lot of us nerds are already upgrading out phones once a year or more, so when a gadget comes along at twice the price of an unlocked phone I am a little more hesitant.

Masayoshi Son, the billionaire (and philanthropic) CEO of SoftBank, has given a two-hour speech to his shareholders about his technological predictions for the next 30 years, and about halfway through he describes a familiar idea: augmented reality glasses that can understand what a person is saying and provide subtitles as a visual overlay.
