I don't have that option, I'm running 10.7.3 if that helps. Going to update to the most up to date 10.7.x and see if that works.

Do you have a set of headphones symbol up near where the wifi symbol is on your Mac when the music manager is supposed to be playing?

----------

Do you also have the option to download song for offline use right ? Btw can you pretty much upload ANY audio files ? I have a lot "sets" concerts so that will be a major plus for me or does it work only like itunes match ?

I have found a link for supported files, hope this helps.....http://support.google.com/googleplay/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1100462&topic=2450455&ctx=topic

I never stream the music, I always download the songs. You can mark songs, albums, artists or playlists to sync for offline use.

And yes, you can upload any type of audio, if it doesn't match it will be uploaded

Are you saying google will match the songs so they won't have to be uploaded?

And when I tried, it wouldn't take windows audio files, wma I think.

What I'd like to know is how do I know if its matching songs? The Music Manager software is terrible, it starts uploading but just stops after a while and I have to restart the process to get it going again. There is no indication in the app whats going on, either in its menu or its troubleshooter. It also doesnt tell me how many songs have been uploaded or matched, but I know its uploading them because I can see its bandwidth usage in Little Snitch and new songs show up on the web site.

Also Google Music doesnt seem to handle compilations like iTunes does. iTunes groups compilations into their own section in the library, so mixed artists dont all flood my main Artists list. Google Music however doesn't, show everything shows up in the artist list making a total mess :( Why can I never find a music player or manager that handles compilation albums correctly, other than iTunes.

It looks like you are not alone. There are a couple of workarounds in this link but it seems that they didn't work for all.

http://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/apps/1DW1yQOzzHg

Ok I fixed it. Launched through Terminal and looked at the error code in Console. One of the lines was this...

Code:
19/11/2012 22:13:30.188 [0x0-0xa20a2].com.google.musicmanager: dyld: Symbol not found: _EVP_idea_cbc
19/11/2012 22:13:30.188 [0x0-0xa20a2].com.google.musicmanager: Referenced from: /usr/local/lib/libssl.0.9.8.dylib
19/11/2012 22:13:30.188 [0x0-0xa20a2].com.google.musicmanager: Expected in: /usr/lib/libcrypto.0.9.8.dylib

So I went to /usr/local/lib in Terminal.

Code:
cd /usr/local/lib

Then removed the "libssl.0.9.8.dylib" it's referencing from the wrong place.

Code:
sudo rm /usr/local/lib/libssl.0.9.8.dylib

And now it works!

:)

Yeah it's great and I only have 1510 songs in my library so that should be enough for a while :p

I just noticed that Google Play Music has created several groups of songs called "Instant Mix", apparently it is like a playlist of songs that go well together automatically generated from your library.

Very cool, didn't know it had this feature. Yet it seems that I can't access these instant mixes with the Google Music app for my smartphone, they show up only when I open it through the browser? Has anyone used instant mixes on their smartphone?

I use both iTunes Match and google music, I tend to switch between iPhones and androids when I get a bug up my ass, and just like having all my music available regardless of what device I'm using. Both services work great, though I like the price of google music better!

I have used the instant mixes on my tablet and they work fine

They only show up in the Recent section

11500/18500 when I left for work this morning. Getting there!

Now I just need to find the best app for use with my TV and we're cooking on gas. Nexus 7 here I come.

Glad you got your issue sorted out with the Music Manager

As you have done quite a lot of music, how have you found the matching side of it, did most things match?

How do I know what's matched and what is just uploaded from my library?

I assume a fair bit must be matched given how much has been uploaded so far.

I assume a fair bit must be matched given how much has been uploaded so far.

The easiest way is while its doing it, if you look in music manager it tells you when its doing an upload and what it's uploading

you can also do it track by track on the website, click the dropdown arrow next to a song, if it says fix match (or similar) it was matched

I was just curious if you noticed while it was doing it

Going to do some more of mine today, I have capped BB so don't want to risk it doing a lot of uploads

I see, well I have not listened to any instant mix yet and they don't show in the Recent part of the app. Maybe it works on tablets but not on phones?

Can anyone help with how to actually get the scan and match to work?
It hasn't given me that option at all on mine.

There is no option for this, it just does it

If you open up the music manager, it shows you what tracks are uploaded while it does it, if it's matching you will just see the counter increased for number of tracks done
