The nexus one is new, actually there's talk of apple partnering with microsoft to overcome google because the phone is literally -that- good.

I am not convinced

Without reading the link....

The Nexus One is a newer device, if it came to the market after the iPhone and for the most part sucked compared to the iPhone like other Android devices have - well you get the picture.

The measurement will be the 4th Gen iPhone versus the Nexus One. I don't ever see Microsoft and Apple teaming up; Apple will continue to acquire smaller companies that it will use their patents and technology to further the iPhone/Mac ecosystem.

I do see Google as being a bigger threat, per se, to Apple than Microsoft. Yet there are plenty of people out there - all companies can succeed. I just want someone to finally create a Flux-Capacitor for me. :)

HA HA HA

Microsoft has been failing in the past decade, there is no reason for Apple to work with Microsoft. See Decade of Apple Wins Against Microsoft Et Al.:
http://www.macbytes.com/link.php?sid=20100104152838

Android has been on the market for over half a decade, but suffers the same problem as Linux = does not appeal to mass audience or top end consumers.

Keep in mind,
- Android has publicized their efforts since 2003
- Android is bought by Google in 2005
- Apple released iPhone in 2007
- Android still doesn't have as much market share as the failed Windows Mobile, never mind the market leading iPhone.

if didnt already know, microsoft owns 40% of apple. so every apple product u buy, bill gates get 40%. theres a hint that microsoft owns 40% of apple if u try to buy a mac, it asks if u want to buy microsoft office. why would it sell its competitors software instead of iwork or appleworks? because microsoft owns 40% of apple. if it wasnt for bill gates, steve jobs would be living in a box right now and you wouldnt know what an iphone or mac was.

I am going to put this as politely as I can: That statement is one of the dumbest things I have read in a long time.

Apple has absolutely nothing to worry about at all. Why would one Android device worry one of the most profittable companies? I have said this so many times, the hardware is not important. A company could come out with a 2Ghz Android phone, and it still would not worry Apple. The software is the single most important thing on a mobile device. This is why Apple has nothing to worry about, they succeeded their first time at a mobile operating system. Their App store is revolutionary and their phones are nothing short of amazing.

Android software is not revolutionary and their phones are not that great. It will take a lot more than a physical device for me to even consider Android. I will take WebOS over Android any time.

Fail. Apple bought back the small amount of investment years ago. It's also never 40% anyway.

Every heard of Pixar? Steve Jobs owns that too. It was bought by Disney. Current value of Steve Jobs holding of Disney is worth about $5 billion dollars. Even without Apple, Steve Jobs is doing well.

Exactly. All the professional reviewers are surprised at the inconsistent lag on various part of Android os even with Nexus one.

yea sorry...that's a fail right there.
please brush up on your history before you post something...

it is selling its competitors Office because people and business want direct compatibility...
yes iWork has the save option but that doesn't always work the best...
your post was 100% fail

But it has removable battery, and having the best and biggest battery of any phone. And let me reiterate that the phone is unlocked, has a larger and better screen, and comes with a HD camera.

Removable battery Most people don't care

Best and biggest battery of any phone First link when I googled "Nexus One battery life", read the comments: http://www.phonesreview.co.uk/2010/01/14/how-is-the-battery-on-the-google-nexus-one-phone/

Unlocked Fair enough but to have 3G you can only use it on TMobile in the U.S.

HD camera??? I don't know where you saw that but it's not true: Nexus One specs

Doesn't an unlocked Nexus cost more than three kidneys?

I would rather keep my iPhone on AT&T, than pay for three kidneys.

Like I already said in this thread, the hardware specifications mean nothing on a hindered operating system. Android is not good, it is just open source. WebOS and Mac OS X are good. They deliver their content to the user in a graphically pleasing way without too much else going on in the background. I have used Android, and it feels really cluttered compared to WebOS or Mac OS X.

Once again, HARDWARE DOESN'T MATTER. If hardware matters, Apple wouldn't be in the place they are now. Their computers come with inferior hardware specifications, but they are a much more quality product both aesthetically and in build quality. This same thing converts to phones. The iPhone does NOT have the best specifications, but it has really good aesthetics and good build quality.

compared to a phone that is rapidly nearing the end of its cycle.

I still don't understand why people always profess a brand new phone as an iphone killer when the current version of the iphone is at the end of its life. Apple seems to always step up the game, so why not wait to see what theyve been working on?

Actually almost everybody likes being able to replace a worn down battery, or have a spare in case of emergency.

Doesn't a iPhone cost more than three kidneys?

AT&T consistently has the worst reception, worst coverage, one of the most dropped calls, and one of the slowest nets.

Can you not afford an iPhone or something? If you aren't trying to be a troll, bring some new points. Otherwise, you have been saying the same old points people have been saying since the iPhone teamed up with AT&T.

Personally, AT&T improved their coverage around me from two bars of edge to five bars of 3G. I have no complaints.

Or, you are trying to justify a purchase of the Nexus One. Sorry?

haha! for all of you who think my post isnt true, it is. i was told this by a 60 something year old man, who is a complete computer geek. so u need to brush up on ur history, not me

I have never once in my lifetime met anyone other than a businessman that carried around extra batteries....for anything.

Actually, you need to brush up on your history.

even with phones that had removable batteries, i never carried a spare batt

same can be said for camereas, and any other electronic devicei had owned

Lol right. You realize that nearly everyone here is a complete computer geek too right? and knowledgeable about Apple.

Your friend is wrong. Deal with it

Go trolling somewhere else. If MS had investment in Apple it would be public knowledge.

And this thread is stupid anyway because I don't see anything that the Nexus One has over the iPhone.

I agree with anjinhamarota, Of all the cell phones I had I never replaced a battery. I even had the Motorola brick as my 1st phone also and never replaced it on that. Also not everyone has poor reception, I'm actually pretty happy with my at&t service. I have Verizon as a work phone and they both have areas where they work and don't work.

I guess no one on here is a computer geek? How about you post a link or some real proof? I could tell you that some 60 yr old computer geek told me that Steve Jobs owns 40% of Microsoft also.

I remember tests recently that AT&T had one of the fastest if not, the fastest 3G network.

Also, it is not everyones opinion that AT&T has the worst reception and worst coverage.

Well, if he was old it must be true.

In fact, in 1997 Microsoft bought 150,000 shares of non-voting Apple stock for $150 million. Some people believe this was a disguised patent infringement settlement, others that Microsoft was trying to help keep Apple alive as a valid competitor to deflect from monopoly accusations. This stock was later converted into common stock, and in 2003 Microsoft sold all of it.

I saw one source that said Microsoft owns shares in a private capital management fund, and that through that fund it has an interest in about .0046% (yes, that's less than five one-thousandths of a percent) of Apple.

All that aside, OP: do you have any idea what "allegiance" means? Perhaps you meant "alliance"?

fine now you make it hard for me cuz i have to explain this whole story.

bill gates made msdos where it was just a keyboard, and u had to know the commands to make the computer do something.

steve jobs got the idea to make it so that way instead of having to know the commands, why not just click and icon. so he invented the mouse, and icons.

he called this operating system windows, and distributed it, but didnt copyright it. he didnt know what copyrighting was. so bill gates said, hey that a great idea! so bill gates stole the whole operating system, every thing about it, the name and everything, and copyrighted it so no one else could sell it. therefore steve jobs couldnt sell it.

steve jobs started a company, and hired many workers. all the workers got together and decided to fire steve jobs. bill gates bought the company and fired everybody, called up steve jobs, and said "do you want your company back?" and thats how apple was born. so now, for every apple product u buy, microsoft gets 40%

People learn to limit the use of their devices, to what the device will allow.

For example, if your battery won't let you listen to Pandora all day, you learn to only do it for a certain amount of time.

Those who can swap batteries rule their device instead of letting their device rule them.

For example, they know they can use up their battery by talking all day... because when they get home and want to immediately go out again, they can simply swap in a freshly charged battery.
