Also the modem has definitely improved from the P8P. Haven't had any reception issues thus far and getting speeds that meet or exceed those with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and 3.

I change mine up alot. I usually like a dark or flat look, but these live wallpapers are pretty sharp. With Aggie football season incoming I'll be changing mine back to Kyle Field in the next couple days.

Off topic, but whatever happened with Material You changing the homescreen font and At A Glance to black when setting a light color wallpaper?

Back with the Pixel 6 or 7 release Google was showing off wallpapers that were lighter and then the font was black to go with it and be seen, as opposed to staying white making it hard to see.

But that like never happens anymore, almost all light wallpapers the font is still white.

So Best Buy canceled my P9XL replacement because "they found damage to the replacement items' packaging and stopped sending them out". They want me to trade in my S24 and return the Pixel, obviously not going to happen as I'll be without a phone. They told me to just return the Pixel and re-buy and re-trade-in my S24. As of today the trade in value is the same. The Hazel 256gb is out of stock.

I have until September 12 to send the Pixel back apparently which is beyond 14 days, but I printed out the transcript and have that in writing. I think I'll just send in the S24 and hope that I can find a 256gb Hazel before 9/12, and then return the current Pixel once that happens.

I have the worst luck when it comes to phones and screens.:mad:

Skip the hazel and go with another color at the end of the day is going to go in a case anyway, I went with the obsidian after my initial hazel order

Totally agree, I wanted the Hazel, or even the Porcelain, as I like White colored phones ( miss the panda days ) and BB only had the Obsidian. And at the end of the day the color doesn't matter, as this phone ABSOLUTELY needs to be in a case. Same as the Pixel 8 Pro, that phone was slippery like a wet bar of soap naked, and the 9PXL is the same, without a case, it's not if, but when it slips and falls out of your hand or slides off the couch / bed onto the floor.

For a cheap case, this is actually super nice, maybe my fav of the cases I bought so far. It's kind of like the official Google silicone case, but this isn't as slimy feeling, and it's a hair thinner than it. Has a more harder feel not so soft, but it's also not rigid hard or anything. Lot's of colors to choose from, I bought two colors, the greenish/gray color, and the dark slate color.

Obsidian and Porcelain are both available, probably a good idea!

Thanks I have been looking for a orange case so I ordered one.

I cancelled my order for the Pixel 9 Pro in Hazel and placed an order for the Pixel 9 Pro in Obsidian. I always use a black case - a Bellroy leather case. I reckon the black phone will look sleeker in a black case. I think I'd be unhappy seeing a thin sliver of the lighter metal band between phone and case. I currently have a Hazel Pixel 8 and am aware of it. Ideally I'd like the Bellroy orange/red case - it would look so good with a black phone. Unfortunately Bellroy decided to make that particular colour for the Pixel Pro XL only. Goodness know why.

Smart choice.

Yeah if you like to live life on the edge and rock your smartphone naked, then get the Hazel or Porcelain color. But if you put your smartphone in a case all the time, then the black color is the best choice, because the camera bar and other parts of the phone being dark won't stick out in a case, and actually look better being darker / black.

Especially those super thin carbon fiber cases, where you see a lot of the edge and parts of the phone itself, the Obsidian color is the only option for those type of cases.

$69! Looks like a great case tbh but I never spend more than $20 on a case.

I've become so lame. All the positive reviews of this phone have really caught my attention. I've had it in my cart at Best Buy a few times but just can't bring myself to pull the trigger. I'm also probably not upgrading my iPhone this year either. Unless there's some major selling point (the capture button really isn't), I just don't see enough of an upgrade there either.

This might actually be the first year for me in a really long time that I don't buy a new phone, haha!

Lame! (but damn the Pixel 9 Pro XL looks so good but I know myself too well)

Same, I'm not buying it, at least not yet.

I have to say the case that I just got from Amazon for like 9 bucks. I really love the feel of it. It's not a super thin case, but not a super thick case. It's right in the middle ground. It feels better than the official Google case and is very comfortable to hold. Plus there's lots of color options available.
