Google Play vs iOS App Store

Don't get me wrong I love both my devices (Iphone/Nexus 7) but wow, IOS is so far behind when it comes to their app store vs the Play store.

I don't just mean available apps because I know IOS has them beat on this. I mean layout and functionality.

I mean you can't even sort reviews from newest first? This is my biggest pet peeve as it seems to me their is no sense of sorting on how reviews for apps occur.
 
I always sort from newest to oldest reviews in the iOS app store. Sounds like user error.

Looks like it's not allowed on the phone app.

I checked the play store on my Nexus 4 and also did not have the option to sort by newest first. I wonder why Google and Apple don't have this on the phone apps.

In the Play store tap all Reviews and you can sort most helpful first,newest first or highest rating first. On my Moto G anyway.

This is an issue I am finding with iPad vs iPhone. If you own an iPad, you can't get Passbook. It would appear that iOS is becoming more disjointed as additional devices are added.

Why would you want passbook on an iPad? It is mostly for payments at retail outlets.

I have the Mini. If I want to browse the internet/apps to look for coupons to add to Passbook, I can't on the Mini. If I want to take my Mini with me on a trip to a far distant land, I can't utilize my Mini for ticket information. I have Google Now and Google Wallet, but if I want to encapsulate everything on to passbook and use it later on an iPhone, apparently I am prevented from doing that. That word, "fragmentation" seems to be creeping up on Apple.

There is more to passbook than payments dontcha ya know. ;)

I agree. I was thinking about this a few weeks ago. I prefer apple's app selection, but I prefer the play store's functionality. On the iPhone I can't even sort reviews beyond all versions or latest version. App makers can't post videos of the app on the app download page. You can't even see which device people are using. For example if someone says an app crashes, you want to know which device they're using it from. Some people state their device, some don't. If it's a universal app, i want to be able to see reviews from iPad users, or even just iPad air users.
 
I have both Google Play and ITunes.. ITunes has more of my type of music, and Google play has some albums I like.

Wondering the same thing. I would much prefer to sort by most recent on the iPhone.

I'd love to see someone use their iPad to board an airplane or to pay for their latte at Starbucks. :p

Passbook on an iPad just doesn't make sense and would be ridiculous.
 
I like that google play shows a list of what every app uses. *shrug*
 
I find the play store a little easier to browse. I pretty much have every app I need but sometimes I like to just look around and see if something else would benefit/interest me. On my iPhone that's not quite as easy.

I hate that it doesn't show me the newest reviews first. Not that big of a deal I guess just annoying.

So, you are basically saying you prefer iPads and iPhones to be fragmented? As in iPads get certain apps and iPhones get certain apps. And I suppose you are in favor of paying for the same app twice as well? Pay once for iPhone and if you want it on the iPad, pay again? Whether something is ridiculous or not (like taking pictures with a full size iPad!) should be up to the individual. Just because I have a 7.9" iPad Mini means I can't have Passbook? Really? That makes sense to you?

Makes perfect sense, plus what universe do you pay twice for the same apps??
