So, you are basically saying you prefer iPads and iPhones to be fragmented? As in iPads get certain apps and iPhones get certain apps. And I suppose you are in favor of paying for the same app twice as well? Pay once for iPhone and if you want it on the iPad, pay again? Whether something is ridiculous or not (like taking pictures with a full size iPad!) should be up to the individual. Just because I have a 7.9" iPad Mini means I can't have Passbook? Really? That makes sense to you?

I just don't see the need for Passbook on an iPad. Sorry. I just can't imagine there are that many people out there that want to whip out a 7.9" or 9" or whatever it is tablet to pay for something or to scan a reward card. That would be cumbersome in my opinion

Oh and yes I have paid for the same app twice, if you must know.

I agree with OP. The Play Store is a better experience. Minus for the fact that the app selection is lacking versus iOS.

So, let's say someone uses their iPad to find coupons or whatever on their iPad and want to add it to passbook? They should go use their iphone to repeat the process? You do realize a lot of people don't use the iPhones tiny screen to surf the internet, right?
Passbook isn't just about buying Starbucks. In my opinion, leaving it off the iPad is a very idiotic decision by Apple. And hell, if I want to use my iPad Mini to buy a coffee at Starbucks, why should it bother you?
Maybe I just believe the user should have the choice and not Apple. Call me stupid for having that opinion.

Are you this up in arms about Google not making Windows Phone versions of their apps or do you just consider it a normal business decision?

Google (and Apple) can choose what to support and what not to support, just because you and I don't think its a good idea doesn't make them idiots.

Silly question, but is the Passbook app not available at all on the iPad? You can't just run the iPhone version on the iPad if you really wanted it? I'm too lazy to pick up one of the iPads here to find out out.

EDIT: I thought it was downloaded from the App Store but I guess it's a default app, so nope.

Google Play vs iOS App Store

This isn't about two totally different and competing companies not offering apps on the opposing sides platform. That is just a normal business decision.

Sure they can each choose, but the problem with Apple is they are "choosing" not to even offer their own app on their own devices and not leaving that decision or potential use up the customer. Typical Apple. THAT'S the problem and yes, I agree, it's an idiotic way to run a business....but hey, what do I know, plenty of people tolerate it. The rest of us have had enough and tend to move on as representative in the marketshare numbers of devices running on competing OS Platforms.

I think it's a good idea to be able to add thing to and modify your passbook from your iPad even if you don't plan on actually having the iPad scanned for rewards, boarding passes, etc.
