Turning OFF (using the slider to OFF) is just that, powering OFF. The procedure I described is more like a reboot in that it puts everything back in order, like when you restart your computer. It's also useful after installing a lot of app updates in case something is acting wonky.
How you fix this problem:- On Iphone go to :- Settings-Safari-Advanced-Website Data, Remove All Website Data.
Now re-try.

Yesss!! I fixed it! No joke. I went in the root filesystem and did some simple tweaking in the searchengine pref plist. Now it works. I tried 4 iphones and an ipad to make sure thi was working. Anyone who want me to explain. Send me a message duzeaux@live.nl
But before you do, make sure you have a program that lets you browse your filesystem. I used diskaid free version. There are plenty of those tools.
