Google Voice + Gizmo5 + Siphon = Free incoming + Free outgoing calls over 3G/Edge/Wif

I can't get txt from tmobile users. I think it's a google voice issue right now. I hope they can come up with some kind of alert for SMS. Alert thru email when I get a txt would be great for now

As for the delay, I was experiencing that as well when I was driving, but it may have something to do with the "echo cancellation" option in siphone.
As for texts from tmobile users, I had a coworker who is using an unlocked iphone 3g on tmobile send me texts and it works just fine. Strange.

Need to figure out why Siphone isn't working over 3G. Do I need to buy unrestrictor 3G??? I've seen some users here say it works great without it. Mine surely doesn't
 
i'm thinking its not even worth the trouble anymore. didn't gizmo pull a bait and switch and put a 3 minute restriction on the gizmo+gv? at least iCall gives you free 5 minute calls...

thats something different, this is where siphon comes into place, I made a 15 min call yesterday
 
Alright, I'm stumped.

I got my invite, and created a Gizmo5 account.

However, I cannot verify my Gizmo5 number within Google Voice. My Gizmo5 number never rings after I click "Verify".

Anybody? Help? Thanks!

EDIT:
Never mind...lol I had forwarding enabled on my Gizmo5 account...fail.

However, now, neither person can hear each other when calling to the Google number forwarded to my Gizmo5 number. I answer the call with Siphon, but nothing! What's up with that?

GV Mobile (Cydia) works perfectly with Google Voice without any add-ons.

Yeah, I understand that. I do have that app. However, I cannot receive calls from within that app, which is what Siphon is for. Also, dialing out from there is finicky...so I just stick with Siphon.

Course, if I can't get it to work, I'm stumped.

Oh yah, I have a 2nd gen iPod Touch 3.0 if that helps...
Backgrounding enabled.

Did you set up your GV account on Gizmo5?

It all worked for me. I followed the instructions at the beginning of the thread exactly.

That's probably where I did something wrong.

I put in my Google Voice phone number under the Google Voice section. Nowhere did I put in my GV username and password.

Where might I go about doing that on the Gizmo5 page?

It's got to be a problem with Siphon. I just tried to call my cell from the online Gizmo5 phone and it worked flawlessly.

Is anyone else having troubles with Siphon lately?

what are you trying to do? the original instructions in the first post is pretty simple, except you make a call from GV Mobile, them Siphon will ring and you answer that

Yeah, I understand. It's probably cause I have the 3.0 upgrade. It's not a problem with Gizmo5, or with Google Voice. It's a Siphon bug I suspect, and it's keeping me from hearing the other person and from them hearing me ATM. :confused:
 
I did everything correctly, however Siphone is failing to authenticate on my iPhone? Anyone know whats wrong?

So, I fixed this problem. My gizmo5 number had dashes in it under the Syphone settings.

However, every time I open Siphone now it just says, "Service Unavailable." ??

**Edit again. Ok everything is working now. Don't know what the "Service Unavailable" deal was. It also works perfect on 3G. Too cool. If you guys get a message like I did that failed to authenticate, it's because you entered your Gizmo5 number in Siphone preferences with dashed. No dashes for the win.
 
hmm so i did get everything to work...

however, i think i was missing something in the instructions, which made it easy.

If you download the gizmo5 app, install it and run it...verify through google voice, answer with the app and verify.

However, works great. Able to make and place calls in siphone with just my googlevoice number.

So does this work for just US? or maybe Canada too?
