i have the GV app on my iphone....if i make a call thru it, does it take away my minutes?

I believe it will still count against your minutes. The way it works is that when you make a call through the GV Mobile app, the call is forward to your cell phone number (assuming you have it configured that way of course, which you should). You then "answer" your phone when it rings and your outgoing calls goes out.

If you're looking to save minutes, check out Skype. I pay $8.40 every 3 months and I make all of my outgoing calls on Skype (unless the person I'm calling is also an AT&T customer). For now you'll need to use 3G Unrestrictor along with Skype in order to make calls over 3G, but that should change in the near future since AT&T has announced that they will allow Skype to work over 3G.

Not unless you want to pay for one (I didn't). The great thing about Skype is that you can configure it so that when you make outgoing calls, your cell phone number shows up on the caller id of the person you are calling.

Absolutely not - it's just a regular incoming call to them. Keep in mind that the plan I mentioned is the unlimited us and canada plan, which is all that I need (your needs may vary). Skype to skype calls are free as well on that plan so if you have friends/family in other parts of the world and they use Skype, you can call them for free. It's a great deal.

Where did you get the google voice app? I added a bookmark to my google voice. I see no "google voice" apps anywhere.

Are you talking "GV Mobile"??

How do you configue skype to show your cell #? thx

So just to clarify guys. If I use the gvmobile app on wifi it will use my minutes for incoming and outgoing? Same deal with 3g unrestrictor? What's the point of google voice if it uses your minutes.

yes it will use your minutes. for now, i think the only way to save money using GV is if you have the fav 5 with tmobile or the new alist with att, wheere you can progam one of your numbers to your gv number...then its free.

i dont have that...i just use my gv to mess with my friends. and look cool

There is tons of information on this on Google pages. Google Voice is amazing but it aint a VoIP thing at all.
