There is no way that Verizon will have the iphone until their LTE network is up. T-Mobile on the other hand may very well carry the next revision, only 1700mhz support is needed to make it compatible.

since you got a free iPhone might as well try AT&T service month to month. If you're unhappy, switch back to Verizon and wait till June until the 4G release.

Ok, just talked to an AT&T rep. They stated you can't do month to month with the iPhone. You are required to be locked into a 2-year minimum contract due to AT&T and Apple's partnership, they prohibit this, no if's and's or but's. I was told that you have a 30-day trial period and if your not satisfied you can go back to your carrier.

Needless to say, I am not a fan of the news because I am sick of T-Mobile, but it looks as though I will be patient and wait it out until news of the next iPhone comes out. Holding out hope ;)

people said the 3gs was Verizon...no

ipad....no

and it will be the same. people say that because they got no life and cant accept that Verizon sucks. :apple: knows this, so you either are getting att or just screw the iphone

No they're lying to you to try and get extra commission from the contract.

It doesn't exclude the iPhone.

Thank you for that link, although I am not too confident they will change their stance. Can I still port my number from T-Mobile to AT&T and go with a month to month plan, or would I need to have a new number?

So, would you all recommend I print that out and go into an AT&T store and that should take care of it?

Yes you can port your number into the month to month. I would recommend taking the print out and if you can find anything on ATT's website that talks about month to month, print it out. The sales reps will be VERY apprehensive about signing you up for month to month because they literally get no commission for those type of contracts. Maybe you can explain to them that you are waiting until June for the new iPhone and you will definitely come back to the same store and same rep to get it when it comes out. Or if you can get another GSM phone, use that to sign up for month to month so you will get a SIM card and then put the SIM in your iPhone and off you go.

I have a better idea: send me your free iphone. I'll switch my service from VZW to AT&T and send you a report on which one I like better. Win-win. :)

Thanks for the help. I was about to switch (yes, I can go month to month) but I found out starting 11/9/09 verizon charges $375 for termination fee -$10 a month. Even if I have a couple months left its over $100 to switch. Is it still worth it?

It's just amazing how much more you get out of a data plan with an iphone vs a blackberry. It's almost as if they shouldn't charge the same for data bc you can do so much more with an iphone.

Why not Jailbreak & Unlock and stay with Verizon?

Research before posting.

Not everyone lives in the USA.
Most countries don't have networks with awkward non-compatible mobile phone systems.

Then he shouldn't post about doing something with Verizon, if he doesn't know about Verizon and their CDMA crap. I don't post stuff about Orange.

You're not going to see the iPhone going to Verizon. After the latest ad campaign by V, the chances of even going to them in the 2012 timeframe are slim.

So, do options 2 or 3. It's your choice. You could also try the phone for a month on AT&T and then cancel before 30 days if you're not happy.

So, went into my AT&T store with my iPhone and they said it was ok to do month to month without contract. They then told me I needed to put down a $200 deposit, freaking drag!!

Ok, I am probably asking a dumb question here. Since I was reluctant to fork over the $200 deposit at the AT&T store to go month to month, I just took my iphone and walked out. Turns out the lady left the new SIM in the phone.

Anyway, is there a way to activate this and port over my number without paying the deposit after all? Thinking this a probably a major stretch, but it's worth asking someone on here in the know.

Can you take the unopened iphone to an apple store and just get credit for it? If not, i would definitely sell the phone as is on ebay. don't even unlock it. let someone else worry about that. Then I'd wait for the next gen phone update. Since you're fine with verizon for now, I'd just wait it out. maybe even until your contract expires.

Then I'd consider the Nexus One in addition to the iphone.

That's actually not that bad at all. $200.00 deposit and no contract?! Some individuals have to pay a lot higher deposit then that and on top of it they will have a contract.

If I were in you're position I would go for it, if I had the money.

Offcourse not.
What do you think you're going to hack into their system and activate an account that doesnt pass credit check?
