I watched his 12.9 bend test and now I've seen this one.

Here's what I think is a key difference. The 12.9 didn't have an already compromised screen, so he needed more effort to do so. While the screen it may only be a bit of thin glass, it's also a big part of the overall integrity of the device.

I'm not saying the iPad Pro doesn't bend at all, clearly they both did, but I'm also saying the situations aren't equal.

Regardless, I get Applecare + for all my devices. Never know when you might get bear hugged by an angry zombie Andre the Giant while holding your iPad or iPhone.

What? It could totally happen.

You have to call Applecare or go into the store. I don't think you can do it online. You also have 60 days I believe after purchase.
You actually can purchase it online but you cannot use a gift card online, you must go to a store for that.

This is why I'm annoyed that there are no cases OEM nor aftermarket for this device. Pretty crazy that there are no options at launch.

Check if it's eligible: https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do

And I think if eligible you can buy it by clicking a "buy now" link on that page.

Sorry I had it wrong I updated my post on how to do it ^^
I’ve tried and gave up. I might just go to an Apple Store this weekend or something.

Nowhere on that website can I do it and on the Applecare own website once I add it to cart it will automatically take it out because I’m not buying an iPad together with it.

Just call them. Takes 10 minutes if that

Hmm weird. I’d give them a call.

You have to call Apple support to buy Applecare+ if you didn't get it at the time of purchase. They will run a diagnostic program to determine eligibility. I had to do this even though I just bought mine a few hours ago.

I get the feeling that these newer iPads are not as durable as some of those in the past. It even feels like they are using a different alloy to save weight.

Now I'm even more irritated that Apple didn't sell rear cases to go along with their smart keyboard and covers. What are they honestly thinking?!??

Their standard cases don't offer much in the way of protection, anyway. I've dropped my original iPad 2 a couple times - both resulted in corner dents on the iPad, while in the case with smart cover. That's what taught me to go with rugged for my new iPad Pro.

Sure there are! Just not a ton of options, is all. Try Urban Armor Gear - I've got a Metropolis case on order. They're quite nice.

Do you know how? I can’t seem to find how to do it online.

Had this exact issue. Two new iPad Pro Cellular, can't buy Applecare online for either of them. Even after going through the serial number eligibility, there is no online option to purchase, even when logged in via iCloud.

As another poster said, we likely have to call and order it.

That is odd. It makes me wonder if third-party manufactures had a real grasp on what to expect for what Apple was releasing for an iPad and when. But just wait a month, the market will be flooded with hundreds of third-party accessories with cases and alike.

I bought from John Lewis in the UK so I have a 3 year warranty, and I make sure to pick home insurance which covers me for accidental damage, for a fraction of the cost of applecare and it covers all my stuff.

For Europeans I'd argue applecare is a waste of money as you'd have repair cover for at least 2 years under EU law, and accidental damage insurance is cheaper from third parties.
