Got MMS without calling AT&T.

I put my sim card in a Razr
Went to wireless.att.com
Clicked on "Manage Your Features"
Selected regular Unlimited Messaging Plan (not iPhone messaging plan).
Sent an MMS from the Razr
Put the SIM card back in my iPhone
Now I can send and receive MMS messages from my iPhone.

In other news, I bought a Razr today and I'm going to use it as a go-phone. When the new iPod touch comes out, I'm going to get that and cancel my iPhone account. Horray for spending $100/year instead of $100/month!

That's all. I just wanted to let people know that this works and I didn't have to bug AT&T about anything.

Here's what the feature settings look like now.

People have been doing that for many weeks, glad you're on the band wagon! Funny not seeing you on here for so long, hope all is well with you, Spaz!
 
Problem is not all the ATT account show that option. I only show iPhone text plans on my account
 
Hey dude thats with doing that already.

It just wont show it. I put the sim in Log in thats all it shows.

Was there anything else you did inside of the account?

It looks like it's working for me but I had to choose the "Umlimited messaging for families" as im on a family plan to get it to work I aint spending $30 a month and figured I would leave it there for a couple days just to play around with MMS since I only got a couple days left on the bill.

So I can send out and recieve fine but if I can somehow make the ATT wireless account show that option (text messaging 200 not the iphone 200) i would be a happy camper.

How long after you changed that did MMS start working for you. I did it but it still doesn't work.

Well after it said the change was immediate I reset the nokia my iphone sim was inside of tested an MMS sure enough it worked.

Took out the sim put it in my iphone reset my iphone sure enough it worked

BUT I would rather not have to be sitting on the unlimited for families text messaging plan and just move mine to the supposed text message 200 that apparently some people are able to see on their accounts.

Me either. I can't wait to ditch my iPhone and go back to iPod touch-land.

No contract
No commitment
No expensive phone bill
No worries

Plus, it will probably do video recording like the 3GS and be as fast or even faster than the 3GS. Hopefully have 256MB of RAM too.

Yeah, that's what I want. I want the 3GS without the phone in it.

I wonder why you got the 3GS in the first place of you never wanted the phone bill nor the contract.

Seems contradictory...

The iPhone was awesome when I first got it... I just don't need it anymore.
 
I can't get this to work... It won't show the "Unlimited Texting Plan" (For non iPhone) when my SIM is in my Blackjack I. Help?

Good for you. So why do you keep posting here?
 
I got this to work after the wireless manager on att.com was finally able to recognize that my SIM was in my BlackJack I, after about 30 minutes. I quickly changed the messaging plan, went back to my iPhone, sent/received one MMS from myself, and then went and tried to receive one from another number and it stopped working. Oh well.
 
i'm surprised we got an mms thread out of thespaz. It made me laugh when i realized it, but i'm glad you picked up the razr. Still kind of on the same boat as you but i cant seem to jump ship after all the money i've spent on the whole process. Plus starting to program some apps within the next few weeks. I agree with people saying we need to stop flaming on thespaz he's just expressing what all of us think a lot of the time. When i try to unlock my phone and even though i have slid to unlock, it sits there until i hit the sleep/wake button twice i want to throw it out the window, i'm not going to start a thread because its just not my style but i love getting to read thespaz's posts because he has a lot of good insight to the iphone and its platform. But as he's said as well he loved it at first and now its just a pain. i congratulate you in your moving away from the iphone and doing whats going to make you happy. Enjoy man, just dont stop posting it wont be the same without you.
 
MMS is such an antiquated technology I really don't understand what all the fuss is about. Even with my dumb phones I barely used it. Now with the iPhone, I can upload to flickr, facebook, youtube and send by email. Why on earth would I choose a technology that would downgrade/distort my image/movie? No thanks.
