Has anyone else had comsmetic problems like this with your new 2016 macbooks? what did apple do? i know they would likely just replace it but i dont want to wait another month AGAIN

If you look at some other posts related to this, it's supposed to be that way. It helps indicate the left and right side of the computer for repair purposes.

Actually no, if you send it back because it has a defect, you'll jump to the front of the line and will likely get a new one within 10 days or so.
Yeah my first tbMBP Silver one had the same exact scratch out of the box in right below the right speaker grill. Seems to be the two most common places for the scratches to be present: either left or right bottom speaker grill. Anyway, I returned it and luckily I already had another tbMBP that I ordered via online. No way am I going to have that staring at me for the next 5 years.

I purchased one in store (the silver base model) and I had ordered the space gray 460 radeon online. I was debating between the two. The base model had the scratch so I already knew I was going to return it once my space grey got here.
I got the scratch also on my 15" BTO,chatted with Apple they said cosmetic defects not covered under warranty and told me to go Genius Bar for them to evaluate!!!!!!what is this?expect me to accept manufacturing flaw expensive device ??
I have that same exact scratch as well and there's a topic with like 15 pages on here somewhere with nearly a hundred others with the same thing. It seems to be a larger issue with production and it's hard to say whether your replacement will still have this mark or not.
I'm not sure what to do just yet - I'm not really into moving into another laptop, although I had the Boot Camp speaker bug happen which may have blown the right speaker. Ugh.

Maybe its some guy with rough fingers or something handling the computers lol
Called apple, spoke to 4 departments. All said nothing they can do. I HAVE to send my computer in first in order for a replacement to be reissued. Gonna suck to be without a computer for 2 weeks or more.
Tempted to keep mine cause of all the GPU issues were seeing and so far

Get over it….. use it for a bit and there will soon be a few more scratches.
got a scratch on the underside of mine. annoying but i got over it after a day.
don't wanna deal with the hassle of explaining, returning ,waiting, reinstalling, maybe even get another worse specimen.

I don't fault people for returning ~$3000 computers with scratches on them right out of the box. Would you find it acceptable to buy a brand new car, scratched before you drove it off the lot? I wouldn't, but to each their own.
