If you had to do you think you could get access to the other PCIe slots? I see it didn't matter if the slots were 4x or 16 in the benchmarks. Could you add more cards if you had the power supply or is it a matter of cooling it all?

No room really. Even if there was room, heat would be a major issue then

The are the same, if by useable you mean the start menu is gone, then thats easily fixed. Otherwise 8.1 boots to desktop and you wouldn't know the difference, especially if you turn of themes and run the basic grey window display theme with no effects. In that setting you could be on anything from 2000-8.1

Still using 8 and have done no updates. We have an app that kicks us direct into desktop and gives us a real start menu.

While Octane is now in final 1.00 and supposed to be 8.1 compatible, we can't take any chances at the moment.

Hmm I was hoping to squeeze in a USB 3.0 card with the two Titans at a minimum. Ive got a Drobo I need to hook up. I really didn't want to look at expansion chassis but that might be my only option.

As of maybe 2 weekends ago, Octane for C4D got Team Render Support. And it's glorious.

GAH!!!!! :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

As I read this I'm rendering away on a giant Octane render on my MP with my z820 sitting idle. Can't bring myself to upgrade Octane in the final days of a huge project. My spidey-senses tell me that's a bad idea.

Yeah. Don't do that, but update to version 1.00 when you get a chance. A lot of stability and material preview improvements.

Besides Team Rendering, what else are you seeing as the biggest improvements? So much funkiness in the C4D plugin I'm using, but I've learned to work around most of it, with pretty nice results.

-Stability in general.
-No more random crashes when rendering to picture viewer.
-Geometry updates work 100% now
-LiveDB is way improved.
-Material Previews are more stable.
-Beginnings of node based material editing.
-Team render support

I also got to play with a preview of the new SDK, which has object and shadow visibility options, UV transform and projection options and even more planned out node based material editing.

There was a menu/window, I believe to save kernel settings, that I had to train myself not to open because it became the UI focus yet the button to close the menu/window was inactive, so all you could do was force quit. So frustrating.

Yes. That was fixed, but i think someone found another Window with the same issue. I forget which one. He is fixing it, regardless

Well, my portion of fixes on this video game project went from "need to have" to "like to have" so I decided to take the plunge into the 1.0 release of Octane to rerender all of this stuff using both of my rigs. Hit a couple weird snags but now have my MP and z820 Team Rendering and playing friendly!!!

Thanks so much for pointing this out to me!!!
