Got my C2D Macbook from PC World (in the UK) on Tuesday. It was a week 45 build base white model. I had previously owned a CD Macbook so it was easy to compare. The new C2D is noticeably faster, runs a fraction hotter and you can hear the fans ramping up when pushing the machine. Everything works well (but then the original CD Macbook did as well) and I have no issues with the machine. Was very surprised to see that PC World had stock already (they also had the Superdrive White and the super duper Black models - but strangely that had absolutely no Macbook Pro models at all).

I recieved my C2D MacBook 2.00 GHz a while ago. It makes an annoying whine. I called Apple about it, and I'm going to take it to a repair center.

It also gets hot. If I use the CPU, it goes up to 89 °C, and will eventually lower the CPU speed, first to 1.83 GHz, then to 1.67 GHz. With the fan running at full speed the CPU temperature will be between 86 - 89 °C if it's running at 2.00 GHz, and slightly lower when it slows down. It idles between 58-60 °C.

I've had my C2D Macbook (Black) for 5 days now, no problems (knock on wood). Stay so cool on the outside it's amazing that the internal temp could register the way it did. I'm at 129F* right now, and it feels like it's just been turned on. (First Mac, and laptop, btw.)

Got my C2D MB for my 1 week old CD MB for free (dead right speaker)! Installed 2GB of RAM and I'm waiting to get a T8 Torx screwdriver tomorrow for my Seagate 120GB HD. It's too bad I can't say anything more so I'll be back tomorrow for the more comments.

Where did you purchase the HD? Interested in upgrading the HD DIY-style.

Got C2D 2.0 ghz whitebook yesterday. Apart from two stuck pixels on the lcd, it also has this cpu whine. Meh. Don't they make QA these days? Ill probably return it. One ickle pixel dead, ok. The whine but no pixels, okay. But two pixels AND whine = me not happy camper.

On the plus side, it runs cooler than the CD MB I had borrowed for a few days. And is less noisy too. Temps idle around 46-50C and peaks at around 65-70.

I bought mines at DigitalHotBuy.com but it's sold out after they lowered prices. There are many online stores that sell the model I have at cheap prices. I was thinking about the 160GB PMR Seagate HD but it's still too pricey. There are other brands with PMR that may be cheaper but I personally like Seagate and their 5 year warranty. :D

Got my C2D MacBook last week (that is possitivly the last time I order direct from Apple - their courier of choice has been consistently aweful every time I have done so).

Speed - Good, even with Rosseta on only 1 MB.

Screen - Looks like I was lucky and got a zero dead pixel screen. Viewing angle is a little narrow, but good enough for the things I need to do on the go. The Mini DVI adaptor I also purchased allows me to use an external monitor if I need a better quality image.

Battery - Got over 4 hours out of it with ease with light airport use.

Airport - Works flawlessly with my Lynksys WRT54GSV4 router (as has all the other Macs). Also performed well at public wireless hotspots (I was away from home just after I received it - so it got a workout on the road).

Bluetooth - Works well with the wirless Mighty Mouse I ordered with it.

Keyboard - I like it better then the keyboard on the MacBook pro - one of the reasons I did not order a pro

Trackpad - Could almost get use to using it. Prefer a mouse, but this trackpad is much better than the ones I have used in the past.

Heat - It gets warm over where the magsafe connector is located, and the underside also gets warm on the rear left quadrant. Kind of remindes me of the old ZX Spectrum (my first computer). Warm air is also vented out from the hinge. While I have not measured the tempatures, the heat appears not to be excessive. Certainly no worse than the office Dell I was using before. Have not played around with temp monitoring software - so I can't give hard figures on temps.

Noise - The machine is not silent. It is quieter than my Mac Mini, but there is a combination of drive noise, fan, and unidentified component noise. All said and done, it is the quietest machine I have ever used. Stressing the CPU causes the fans to kick in more - but again this noise is no worse than my Mini under maximum load. Everyday usage is fine. DVD drive is a little loud when reading disks (but not playing movies), but I have never found one that isn't. Some models I have used are far worse.

Build Quality - Only issue I have with the build is that on the left hand side of the keyboard - just about where the magsafe connector is - the keyboard surround has a minisule bulge. You can't see it, but you can feel it. It is not enough to obstruct the screen when closed, but it is a little bit of a shame that what was otherwize a perfect product is marred.

Got a Tucano Second Skin Microfiber case for the MacBook. It is excelent.

I installed Parallels on my MacBook and tossed on a W2K licence (decommisioned the machine it was installed on last year - so the licence was just laying around anyway). Only need windows for four specific programs that I use once or twice a month. This works great. Now I can toss out my Windows machine and free up space under my desk for my Mac Pro (my mother got the Mac Mini).

Anyway - so there I was away from the office for a week on an IBM site in a room with my gleaming white MacBook surrounded by IBM and Dell laptops ... :D
