Good to know though chap, thank you.

Three of my monitors have DP as it happens! Is it up to running my rig though, or would they all have to be smaller / lower res?

You should be good. You'll need to use either the DisplayPort or Dual-Link DVI for the 30" and the HDMI is probably best for the TV.

aaaaaannnd...... nothing.

Blank screens all round. Machine boots, chimes, is quite happy. But nothing on the screens.
:(

I trust you've connected the 2 x 6-pin power leads?

Try just the 30" monitor connected to the dual-link DVI. And try selecting its input manually using its on-screen menus.

Yep, all power was in. I had connected two ports to begin with, went back to just the DL-DVI and another reboot and suddenly up it popped. Then rebooted for each input.

Now have FOUR screens!

WOOOOOOOOOO!

Chaps you have been marvellous. Running smooth as a baby's bum even with my silly uncompressed video and such like.

Until I reboot. Then I just get 3x white screens and the final one blank. Turned off and pulled all but the two DVI out and it's back up again.

Hmm, maybe I need to get the latest Nvidia drivers? They seem to say they're for 10.8.2 though and I'm on 10.8.3?

Check the FAQ thread :)

Quite. Which is why I haven't done anything.

So what we're saying here is four displays will only work with the official NVIDIA driver, which doesn't actually yet exist? So I'm back to square one, or I just daren't ever reboot my machine?

Patience is a virtue, so they tell me.

At boot time you'll see nothing until the login screen (or desktop) appears.

*edit* Sorry if I misunderstood. You shouldn't need to hot-plug 2 displays.

Pretty much this, yeah. I'm running a GTX 680 right now with stock 10.8.3 and it works fine. There isn't an NVIDIA driver for 10.8.3 yet. How long are you waiting after you reboot? The screens can stay dark for quite a while if your machine is slow to boot up.

Last wait was around half and hour.... Granted the RAM takes forever to check so I'm aware it should be a while, but that's getting silly.

As above the screens don't stay blank - 3 go white.

Right, half a dozen reboots later, the conclusion seems to be the system is fine if I boot with just the two DVI's connected, but if I add in the HDMI for the telly it's just white screen ago-go.

Additionally, if I connect the DP-MiniDP along with the 2x DVI, then the 2x 24"s attached then white screen but the system boots, and then all the screens have been swapped around, with the task bar appearing on one of the 24s instead of the 30.

You should be able to "fix" the task bar etc. by opening up the display preferences and adjusting the arrangement of the displays. FWIW you can drag the bar from one display to another. Sounds like the OS gives priority to the DP connection if it exists.

Indeed. It is however extremely tedious to have to crawl to the back of the racks to unplug monitors just to make the machine boot, then having to rearrange the monitor positions, resolutions and backgrounds every time.

I hope to god the new driver fixes this, as a 15 minute rigmarole just to boot the machine is intolerable.

Well with the advent of the new driver, I now can finally boot with all the displays plugged in! Wooo! :D
