I installed the NVIDIA web drivers, then the GeForce GTX 950 in slot 1, rebooted, and besides no boot screen (which is expected and totally fine) everything is working perfectly. The card is virtually silent most of the time and is very quiet under load as well.

Hi Antipex. I need to upgrade my video card on MacPro too. I've tried to find Gtx950 but now are more simple to find the 1050 version. Do you think that this 1050 card can work on MacPro 1.1?

I'm not sure – I haven't used my Mac Pro in almost two years.

Hi everybody, I've just upgraded my old MacPro 1.1 bought in 2006. Now I have Mac OSX El Capitan with 64 GB memory. I can use the Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve Studio 14 (with Dongle) software but I use a Ati Radeon HD 5770 graphics card, which does not seem to be the best graphic system to edit on DaVinci Resolve Studio 14.
Please do you know which graphics card should I use instead ? NVidia GeForce GTX 950 ??
Thank you for your advice,

I’ve installed a GTX960 without problem. you need only to install NVIDIA WEB drivers and CUDA drivers and buy a 6 pin to 8 pin cable adapter (about 8€ on shops). Don’t worry if you can’t see the APPLE logo on boot. After few seconds the video will appear.

First thanks for your feedback.

This graphic card is a bit too expensive for me, I won't play with this MacPro 1.1, I only need cheapest graphic card compatible with 10.9/10.10 or even 10.11

Advices welcomed :)

I just moved my Radeon 6870 from my MacPro 2008 to my MacPro 2006, and it works like a charm with Mavericks. I would think it's an old enough card that it would be cheap, but I can't find any instances of it on eBay...
