Still.. I don't see any pro companies using Macs for these types of applications

My dad works for a very large building firm in the UK, and they use all sorts of 3D production tools on the Mac in their offices to model, plan and showcase buildings both in 3D and 2D - The Mac has plenty of "pro" use in the 3D field.

Isn’t Shake used throughout Hollywood? I'm pretty sure Pixar has Mac based elements in its 3D work flow? Could be wrong on the Pixar thing though.

remind me agian why you ruled out the 15" Macbook Pro? Because the 2.16 GHz model with sufficient RAM comes with a 256mb vcard. And that is what you are after. If all of the programs you need also have mac version, its is most likely because they CAN run on macs. And the 15" is not unportable and it only weighs bout 2.5kg....so...maby...you should consider it...;)

Batman.

I know, I have been considering MBP fom the first day. But as I said in a previous reply.. I want a small laptop. I already own a 15" laptop and it's giving me hell wherever I go. It's too big to carry around and I move a lot (believe me... a lot)

Apart from the graphics card for 3D Work the 13" mb is not a good idea because of screen size. Unlike in Photoshop etc. you don't have 1 work space and the tools palettes, you actually have 4 work spaces most of the time. You have the top, front, side & complete view. On the 13" screen these 4 views will be reduced to almost stamp size, making it extremely hard to get any work done.

Correct me if I'm wrong, I do very little 3D work and can only tell my personal experience.

You're abseloutley correct, but I have tried it on a 12" screen and it was not that hard because the programs (Maya, 3D Studio Max, etc) allow you to open on view and go back to main when you are done with it, so your work can be actually more specific.
