Howdy folks - so I've been lurking on this site for years, soaking up so much great information on Apple, Mac OS and hardware. As an iPhone and iPad user, I knew my next laptop would be a Mac, but I've been waffling between the MBA M2 an the 14" M1 Pro. Welp, decision was made for me... For those in the US, Best Buy has the 14 Pro on sale for $1599. Created an account to share the news while they have supplies. Way too good to pass up at this price point...

I'll probably head back to lurking, since most of my questions are generally answered, and the community here can say anything I have to say, just waaaay better. Have a great weekend!

And since it's a hot topic for deciding between the 2, I'd say 95% of what I need a laptop for I could get by with an MBA. Only thing holding me back is I'm so used to dual screens (yup, know there's a workaround) and I keep threatening to dig into Logic Pro and get serious about creating music. The Pro would future-proof that a bit, and I don't lug around a laptop all that often, so portability wasn't an issue. Plan on this lasting 10 years, so might as well go all in.

At that price, this is one of the few Apple products that feels like you get a lot for your money. Most Apple products give you sticker shock when configured nicely.

Damn I though I did good at 1699.. Damn! Great deal
If U bought it in the last 30 days the retailer U bought it from may refund U the $100. I bought mine at Microcenter for $1699, went in yesterday, showed my receipt dated 7/31 and they refunded me the $100+tax (110.10) matching the BB price.

MC calls it price protection.

$1,599 for the base model MBP 14" is one of the best price deals I've ever seen for a new MBP.
Can't argue with $400 "right off the top".

That several major retailers are selling for this price makes me wonder if perhaps "the next generation" of MacBook Pro 14/16" models isn't that far off...?

But even so, this is still a great deal.

I bought MBP 14 at 1799 2 weeks ago at Best Buy. I went back to Best Buy yesterday to get price match adjusted.

I have a 16 inch MacBook m1 and was getting a m2 air as a travel laptop. now with the price, maybe I should get the 14 inch instead as a travel machine. at the same cost not sure if I can pick the air over the pro even though its got the new design. is it true the 14 inch pro has worse battery life than the 16 and air?

I appreciate you saying this. It isn't like I don't know about the policy, I do, its just my brain didn't process the fact that was a possibility. I hopped online and requested a price adjustment and got my cash. Thanks for replying to my post and mentioning it.

Also worth mentioning that this is not only a great deal for the price alone, but if you have a Totaltech membership, you get AppleCare+ as well with no added costs - this applies to both new and open box laptops.

So, I spent a total of $1615, taxes included, for an "open box - excellent" condition 14" MBP (in silver) with AC+ included. Thanks again OP.

Best Buy only refunds if it's within 14 days. I was a $1799 payer in June and it dropped another $50 and they would not do it b/c it was past the 2 week return window.

Due note that if you are an Elite member they will double the return period to 30 days. They will also price match during that period.

I was tempted to return my 1 week old M2 MacBook Air but after using it for a week the form factor and battery life is just too much to give up.

I'm really tempted, as I'm starting to get into video editing. My 8gb on my m1 MBA seems to be lagging and I get the circle of forever death. I really should never get a laptop without at least 16gb it feels like. Open box discounts can save another $150

I couldn't resist at such a steep discount...went for the 14" 1TB model and gets me away from intel into apple silicon. Will be upgrading from a 2020 13 Pro which can hopefully offload at a decent price. I can't recall ever seeing such a great sale on newer macs.

Great, jumped on the deal for $1600-$240(15% back if you open bestbuy credit card). Not bad I would say for $1360. Still keeping my m1 Air with 8/512 for my wife or personal things, while MBP will be employed towards the WFH job.
Great score!! 🙌
