Agreed. Grooveshark is in agreement with one major label and hopefully they come to terms with the one that had a disagreement so that this great app can be put back in the app store. Forget all the rest of the music apps.

This one allows your own music to be uploaded and you can have all kinds of playlists and favorites. All of those other music apps got nothing on Grooveshark.

Why would you want to do all this? I hate building playlists. I’d much rather just use Pandora on the go and Last.FM on my computer.

You can still get it in Cydia but I can't post the repo here. It took me about 10 minutes to find the repo.

Do you even have to add a repo to cydia to get it? I thought it was on one of the default repos (modmyi, or something like that)...

Im not arguing with you, I just want to know what is so great about grooveshark that you cant do with the iPod app.

Yes you do have to add a repo. Once Grooveshark was approved for the app store, it was removed from the Big Boss repo in Cydia since it was no longer needed there. Now only a few repos have it. One has the most current and the other has an older version. Those repos both have to be added.

But there is already one of the major record labels behind Grooveshark so how is that bad? It's not illegal if they are supporting it.

The one label that objected to iTunes most likely had a problem with something the app was allowing. They didn't object to the Android and Blackberry apps. It's not illegal in anyway.

Yes. One major record company. Repeat that: ONE. Maybe about..let's say 20% (that's probably a way to high number) of their content is legal. Everything else isn't - they are making money from content they don't have the rights to.

Grooveshark is relatively small right now. They are probably still working out what strategy that want to use against it. No surprise they want after the biggest market first either (and where they have a partner in form of Apple). I wouldn't be surprised if the Android and Blackberry apps will be pulled soon either.

It is illegal. Use it if you want - but this is a fact that cannot be denied or argued. The huge majority of their content is illegal.

If it's illegal, they need to pull the app from being offered for Android and Blackberry and the others. Until then it's not illegal since the label only objected to the iPhone app.

It probably wont be pulled from Android, ever, and I have no Idea how the Blackberry store works.

Well that's some really daft logic. But again, it CANNOT be argued whatever the huge majority of their content is illegal or not. That is a fact. The problem is that it's hard to get to, because they ship all the legal responsibilities to the users. Look at the attempts to close down The Pirate Bay. Not so successful huh? This is the exact same scenario.

Apple is probably more eager to take it down than Android or Blackberry simply because they are a part in the case with iTunes.

I am disappointed I missed getting this app when it was available. I tried the service on their site (grooveshark.com) and it's great – it played everything I searched for and would have made a good addition to my iPhone since I can't fit my entire music library on it and I have had times when I wanted to hear a certain song that wasn't on it.

Can't believe this is pulled. I told my GF to get it but it was gone.

I do have it but it was looking for an update for 4.0 so I can multitask. I bought it for a year too! I guess it give me a reason to download backrounder again.

Slacker and Grooveshark make me happy.

If you have Grooveshark via Cydia, there will be an update for multitasking. Also, they said they're submitting a new version with multitasking for the App Store. (Don't expect approval)

So yeah.. jailbreak. BTW, this was told to me via an email with Grooveshark.
