You don't read what others write, do you? Otherwise you would know I returned my iPhone and have continued using a BlackBerry. As for your app; 1000s of happy customers??? I would suggest you look at your ratings as far more people are dissatisfied than happy with it!

That's because most happy customers don't write reviews. And I certainly don't think the app is perfect for anyone so a number of bad reviews is expected.
But please, even if you returned the iPhone, tell me why you didn't like the app, maybe I can make it better with your suggestions.

Why should I need to buy an app for a feature that is common on every other phone?

In the next generation of iPhone would I be able to, WITHOUT having to buy an app from a third party, select a GROUP, write just ONE message and when I click SEND it goes out to everyone in that group?

I don't know why Apple has not put the feature in the messages built-in app (well, I actually have some ideas).
You don't need to pay for the feature. I think some *free* apps with the group feature will appear soon. In fact the Lite version of ABContacts has the feature and is free (and if Apple approves it should appear soon on the AppStore).

Vettori just tried to provide a solution to a problem alot of iphone users have. Instead of offering constructive criticism on what you didn't like about the app you choose to just mindlessly rant. You're sounding like a 8 year old who's upset about his Christmas present not being what he thought it was.

Thanks for working on a Lite version of this for iOS 4 vettori. :)

The best app I found was called Mass Text Message. Most of the other ones have terrible reviews. This one has great reviews and is really easy to use. It even has a website with instructions; however, they weren't really necessary since the app was so user friendly. I also really like the ReadyText mode which allows you to save previously used messages and re-use them. Check out masstextmessage.com.

Well my Group Text! app also has a lot of nice reviews

Group Texting Pro

Hey guys,

I have created a simple application that allows you to do Group Texting. You can easily create groups on the iPhone and send text messages without having to type in the phone numbers each time.

You can find more information about it here if you are interested: http://www.mattstockton.com/2010/06/27/group-texting-pro-now-available-on-the-iphone-app-store/

Let me know if you have any questions about the app! Looking forward to some feedback!

Group Textings

So much time has gone by, is there an honest answer to the group texting question. As much as I love my iPhone I think I would have gone with the android had I known something so simple but frequently used was missing from the iPhone. Also, it seems like Apple ignores the questions. Getting a response with a date that we will be able to make group addresses has been a long time coming. Like the somewhat snobish "European", I think this spells doom for futher ipad and air purchases for me.

Seems so minor but why is it such a problem.

M

If you do "group" texting why not just shoot off a group email ?

Don't the other phones do email ?
Not everybody uses e-mail the same way - the majority of people I know wouldn't check their e-mail on their phone (including people with smartphones), so e-mails aren't useful for organising large numbers of people for events outside of work etc.. Group text messages are the lowest common denominator in that respect - the thing that the largest number of people will respond usefully to. There isn't really a substitute for them, unfortunately.

Please check the date before you reply to a thread. This thread has been dead for 6 months.
And yet, it comes up early on google searches for the issue, it contained an unresolved question - to which I politely responded with new information, and it covers a topic that remains relevant.

I'm sorry if I've offended you, but I don't see any problem with my response. It was not a bump, a spam, a duplication, or a flame. People will continue googling the issue and finding this thread (like I did), no matter how old it is.

I have sent multiple group texts before. Once you specify a group of contacts you are sending a text to, all it takes to send another to that very same list of contacts is to go back into your Messages (SMS) on your iPhone, click on that same previously sent message and type a new one and it will again go out to the entire list of recipients.

Sure, you have to go through and choose the list of people the very first time, but from then on, it's simple to text to that list. I have done this multiple times with family members.

I am looking back right now in my messages and I have 5 separate 'lists' I can send out to at present, should I need to.

So, I don't see how this is some insurmountable problem people are making in (or had made it ) in this thread. The only issue (if you can call it that) is there is no way to group contacts at the start into some sort of list other than choosing them as recipients for that original group text message.

This approach works but has a problem (as you say), i.e. if you want to add or remove one or more recipients you have to start from an empty list.
There are a lot of apps that can easily manage this (and a lot more) for a couple $ or less. I'm very proud of mine that has an 4.75 rating in USA and UK, Group Text!.

Can I mass send out a photo on your program Vettori? By the way I am in the USA.

^^^

At the moment, no app can attach pictures to texts sent with the "phone" hardware (i.e. send MMS instead of SMS).
Apple does not (yet) allow developers to do that. You may find some app that uses some external internet gateway to send texts and this may allow attaching pictures.
