Grr, iPhone stolen!

This afternoon someone decided it'd be a good idea to steal my iPhone whilst i stupidly left it unattended at work (i know, stupid of me)

I immediately tracked it on MobileMe and traced it to a location just down the road. I went there and found some reprobates who denied all knowledge. Later though I found out that it was here that an iPhone was being offered for sale by these gits from a neighbour. Although the tracking feature didn't recover it it has proved useful as I now have a description/witness to the robbery!

This accompanied with the CCTV will hopefully lead to an arrest, even if I don't recover the iPhone itself.

Just thought I'd let you guys know. Thank god it's all insured!

Sorry for the random post, but wanted to share my anger, I'm so cross and upset by the whole thing!
 
What do you mean you "stupidly left reception unattended to go the loo"?

You left your phone on a counter for a few minute while you went somewhere else?

yup, and sadly in today's society this is an idea opportunity for dicks who can't respect other people's property or bother to save up to buy one themselves to steal from you.

i dispair sometimes!

And you seriously didn't think someone would take it?

Or wait, maybe they didn't know the phone belonged to someone.

You should have put up a sign that said "HAI PLZ DNT TAKE MAH IPHONE. GOTTA PEE"

That would have made all the bad guys stay away.
 
sorry to here that

I'm having a hard time too with leaving it while going to the loo. We have discussed stuff like this before. it's like leaving $700 cash on the table plus all your personal info and contacts. Which depending on who you are could be worth nothing or millions in it's self. Don't leave your phone laying around not for a minute not for a second. again sorry glad it's insured. :D

Anyone who leaves their iPhone and goes somewhere else doesn't deserve it anyway. That was incredibly stupid of you.

FTR, I understood what you meant.

That sucks hard.

Wouldn't it be great if you could have activated some sort of loud alarm through Mobile Me while you were asking the thieves if they had your iPhone?

I never leave mine unattended while in a public place. I take mine to the, um, loo with me. I mean, isn't that what Stoneloops of Jurassica is for? :p
 
its just hard for me to understand how this happened as the bathroom is where i use my phone the most.
 
to bad you are so ****** to think you could leave a $600 piece of electronics lating around and didnt think anyone would steal it. And the fact that your pissed is makes sense... but you kind of had it coming

To all that have had to nerve to call Petemwah stupid, dumb, he deserved it, etc. Get a life? Okay? I think Petemwah realizes he goofed. Tell me you all haven't ever done anything stupid?

LMFAO! haha, i must say it WAS stupid of you and I don't really feel bad cause you have insurance, plus you have tracking via mobileme. it seems like a win-win situation... someone learns a lesson from doing something incredibly dumb, and then gets to laugh in the thief's face as he gets sent to jail :D
 
mm i dont know if i am reading his post wrong.. but from what I understood, he was working and left it at the desk to go to the bathroom.. I've done that - although i work at a place where no one would steal from me.. but if it was at his DESK which happens to be the reception desk, it might make a lot more sense than leaving it on a table where random strangers walk up to to ask questions..

im just thinking although it was stupid, it wasnt THAT stupid like leaving it on the best buy customer service counter while going to the bathroom.. more like working at best buy customer service and leaving your phone behind the desk near your computer and going to the bathroom

Yeah I wouldn't sent him to jail for too long, maybe a month.

The guy found an iPhone left there, I mean if I found an iPhone and it's owner wasn't there I would have taken it too! Of course I would then call back to return it, but I already have one and I can know how it feels to lose it but for someone who doesn't have one it's tempting to keep it!

It's not like he picked it from his pocket...
