I can run 11-12 apps now even after phone goes to deep sleep without reloading with these changes.

I know why they are doing it.apps like facbook, chrome, instantgram etc can store massive amounts of cache and eat up ram while using them.I've seen chrome eat up 500mb of cached ram and samsung figures users will power use a few apps at a time and not purposely loaf up 15 apps to see refreshing.

It saves people a crap load of mobile data to store Facebook and instantgram in ram and not reload those images after re scrolling them.I've noticed a family members data go up about 15gb a month just from leaving a note 3 and switching to an iPhone 6 plus.thank God we are on unlimited data but my brothers data skyrocketed going to ios and using the same apps.
Madly though what this confirms is that without rooting (and therefore perhaps voiding warranty) and messing with the build prop the S6 Edge will never perform like I want it to. I honestly do not understand why Samsung would purposely gimp their own product like that. Looks like I'll have to stick to other devices if I want to keep my usual 9 apps or so backgrounded without having to root / mess with build prop.

It's like a constant 'dangle' of hope - but at this stage i grow increasingly cynical. We were told the peformance patch would fix it - it did nothing. Then 5.1.1 would fix it .... it doesn't. Now 'reserved till S6 prime is out?'.

The fact that the app killing is clearly software encoded purposely in there suggests thats how they intend it to run - otherwise they could have released a patch that edited the build prop as previously mentioned very easily themselves. This 'dilly dallying' nonsense doesn't make sense if the fix is so evidently easy to implement.

MRU you are the perfect beta tester for this patch! Please get pinpong root app and root your phone.it will take 1 min to root it and then you can get root explorer to find the file to edit in.

Has anyone tried to do a factory reset and restore your apps? This might be a good thing to do after a big update like that.

I have sooo many apps though.

I was trying to avoid that, but I may do one tomorrow since it's the only free time I have.

Yeah it sucks! But your standby time going up like that might get fixed by a reset. :(

I find it a bit snappier. Although I stopped using Chrome and find the stock browser much quicker and feature rich. I also use fast reboot from the play store which closes down apps I choose that like to restart themselves. From time to time it will show a tad lag but the pros really out weigh the cons and I'm really happy with my S6. I also picked up a Gear 2 watch which has 0 lag (Tizen) over the weekend which compliments the phone nicely. Bring on the Tizen device!

After a day with the update, I'm really seeing no performance improvements. Shrug. Can't discern any anyway.

Hmm, if anything I think it is faster. I don't use the fingerprint to unlock my phone, I actually find that more a pain in the rear to do every time so I use it on certain apps and its imo faster than is was though it isn't a huge difference.

One day on update and battery life is better and fingerprint is quicker. Phone in general is snappier. Happy!

I don't know why I'm not feeling any performance gains or increased fingerprint reading speeds. In fact, fingerprint scan feels a hair bit slower (could be my imagination...).

Not sure why I'm having a different experience than everyone else... Do I need to do a factory reset? I would very much prefer not to.
