@MacVidCards
thanks for the detailed post, and the VRAM info, it all worked.

The CUDA on a 570 is GREAT, but the OpenGL doesn't "feel" any better than a radeon 5770 in Blender & Houdini, just my personal anecdotal "testing". Hopefully the 28nm Nvidia cards will come out one day.

Has anyone here tried to run a PCI 3.0 card in a macPro or hackintosh with a Pci 2.0(16x) slot?

There is now an NVIDIA driver with support for GTX 5xx series with 10.7.3! See http://netkas.org/?p=1059 for more information.

It basically means you don't need ATY_Init any more (I don't know whether changes to GeForceGLDriver.bundle are still required), and the card is now properly detected in "About this Mac"

For Mac Pro 1,1, you will need to edit the "distribution.dist" in the driver package (http://forum.netkas.org/index.php/topic,1897.0.html). Also there is still no Mac Rom available, so still no boot screen.

no need for the distribution.dist edit for Mac Pro 1,1 :

Basically opening /Volumes/NVIDIA Drivers/270.00.00f01 Web Release.mpkg/Contents/Packages/webDriverPayload_SVSSJ.pkg will open the install dialog and will install with no problems on a Mac Pro 1,1 . At least that was my case. Someone else will need to verify.

How do you have your two monitors physically connected to the card? Does anyone know if a third monitor would be supported?

Via two dvi cables. I think I recall seeing a post somewhere that said that wouldn't be possible.
