Mountain Lion. It will be the final step in making Lion more cloud based and iOS-like. After that, iOS and Mac OS will be released at then same time with the same name.

Just my guess.

Btw, "Mac OS X" is no longer the name for "Mac OS", it is "OS X".

They're still referring to it as Mac OS X on their site.

When I first heard 10.7 was named Lion, I thought this might be the last OS X before OS 11.
I figured since the lion is the 'pinnacle' of cats, why would the next major Mac OS release be codenamed a 'lesser' cat?
Mac OS 11 won't continue with the same codename theme.

The only reference to Mac OS X as Mac OS X is the URL address, all other OS references just mention OS X, but maybe I am blind.
But there was a small rumble about this silent renaming.

The announcement calls it Mac OS X. However, the first line also indicates that Auckland is in Australia (that link is from the NZ site, although I believe that the US one also says Mac OS X).

It's just OS X on that page for aesthetics. Update your Mac with Mac OS X Lion just sounds repetitive.

Yep, it does the same on the US centric Apple site: http://www.apple.com/pr/library/201...res-Available-in-July-From-Mac-App-Store.html

Maybe they are confused at Apple.

Anyway, I didn't want to detract from this often repeated topic. Maybe the next OS will be still called Mac OS X. Apple will figured it out until then.

Danke sehr, or how the poets used to sing.
Anyway,

OS X 10.7 Lion is the last version. iOS 6 will be the all-consuming OS that provides "desktop" and "immersive" modes. Sort of like Windows 8 is going to be.

Other than the url, no they don't.

Scroll to the bottom. There are 3 instances of the exact name "Mac OS X" on that page.
There are 4 here: http://www.apple.com/macosx/what-is/

Mac is not used every time because it sounds redundant and their marketing strategy is to avoid that.
But it could have another meaning. Maybe due to iOS and Mac OS merging eventually.

Hippo of course. The most dangerous animal in Africa, that can easily kill a lion. Bloated but very powerful. Amazingly agile for its bulk. Has a thick skin and doesn't break a sweat. :p

Besides, im pretty sure that Tigers, are supperior to Lions in both size and power.

They aren't, actually. The most experienced and successful scrapper is usually a lioness, pound for pound. A female lion will do what a tiger would hate the most: Neutralize its ability to strike stealthily (big cats don't sneak up on big cats) and take it into several rounds of combat. Tigers have neither the skills nor the experience necessary in this area. A lioness is something any tiger would do best to avoid.
