I went to my local Apple store to see if they had any 256 vram x1600 iMacs in stock, and was told by the salesperson that they had been told by Apple to suspend selling them until further notice. Any validity to this............and if so why. Maybe thats why so many custom builds are sitting in Shanghai.

Well, I ordered the 256MB upgrade, and FedEx kept in Shanghai for over a week... when I called, I was told it's not because of any problem with Apple - it was the Chinese new years, and their employees apparently get three or four days off, so everything was really backed up. That was all.

So I don't doubt that there are delays and whatnot getting these machines, but you gotta realize it may be something really innocent like a new years delay, as opposed to some crazy glitch.

I ordered a 20" iMac last week w/upgraded vram and it's scheduled to ship tomorow, Jan. 31. They'd better not **** up the ram...

Since when has there been 31 days in February? Better yet, since when has it been February? ;)

I ordered a 20" iMac with 2GB of RAM and 256 VRAM and had no problems with anything. If something is up I'll be interested to see what it is since mine has been running flawlessly the time I've had it.
