Might be a bit low, but definitely not worth the hassle. eBay use to be great. But given all the scammers, people trying to return because they found a better offer and the exhorbinet fees just not worth it. Swappa is better but still a hassle.
Seconded. The "My son made this order without my permission" bs is ridiculous.

Thanks for all the info. I am sure everyone on here is legit but I get very cautious because I do not want to run the risk of the seller calling in for insurance theft and then I’ll be stuck with a $650 paper weight

I've never had any issues with eBay. You simply need to lock down your 'buyer options' to exclude categories that include potential scammers. Options such as lack of PayPal account, countries you don't ship to and too many unpaid item strikes etc. Once you've done this you exclude most of the scammer bids. The only thing you need to keep an eye out for are bidders with no feedback. You can block those bidders as you see them bidding. Make sure you only ship to the address on the PayPal payment receipt.

Anyone looking to sell their X please let me know. I can offer up to $750 depending on condition, and do eBay, Swappa or whatever you choose.

This. This is always a risk of trying to squeeze out that extra $75-100.

Say you list it for $650 on Swappa, a pretty fair average of what 64gb in "good condition" are selling for right now (not listed but recent sold), you have a $20 Swappa fee, 2.9%+$.30 paypal fee and $12 shipping. So you net $600.

Is that $75 extra worth it to you to get empty box or otherwise scammed (it's not the condition seller claimed etc)? Potentially being out a phone and money. That's the question. Not to me this year.
Agreed. Just trade it in towards you new phone and walk knowing that it's a done deal without any hassle.

That's all true and good, but now Paypal offers 6 months for a return and they will side with the buyer. Better to not have that hanging over your head. You may risk losing your money and your phone. Not worth it nowadays.

Looks like we established a market. Looks like ~$650 is fair value. That’s befoena flood of x’s hit Ebay and swappa.
Problem is eBay charges 10% So that's down to $585...then you pay to ship it, let's say $15, so $570 now and you have the chance that the buyer has remorse and wants to return it. For the $45 I'd be missing out on (potentially) I'll take the hassle free option of Apple paying me $525. Good luck getting $650 in a week after everyone gets their new phones.

Don't forget, PayPal takes a cut, too.

Yeh ebay fees have become a greedy joke. Last time I sold on there they were only a few %. Like 10%, cmon. And that's before Paypal gets involved. Giving away 13% isn't a great business strategy for sellers.

Swappa is better on the fees, only $20 plus Paypal. But same level of risk and dealing with Paypal.

Too many horror stories and scams like empty box scams out there where Paypal sides with buyers and you're out money and the phone.

All to try to net $50-75.

Sell online. I’d either sell it for more money or for $525 and help someone out. No since in helping Apple. I’d rather help a regular person. But that’s just my opinion.

That has nothing to do with eBay. That's for 3rd party vendors processing through PayPal. I have no returns on items on eBay.

Ebay bends over backwards to protect buyer. Sellers are usually left on the hook. I had a iphone (6+) in mint sold. 2 weeks later the buyer found a little scratch(was not there when i sold, had pics to prove it). buyer opened case with Ebay, which threatened me with a tarnished rep etc. Had to reimburse buyer+ shipping. THEN i had to request back fees from Ebay and PayPal. NEVER AGAIN!

Check with me on Monday. If my family member doesn't want to buy my phone, we can work something out. Mine is mint 256GB. with AppleCare. Has had a Belkin Invisiglass protector since day one.
My advice is both of you meet at an Apple Store to take care of transaction, that way, buyer can see if it's wiped clean (reset to factory default settings), cleared of Apple I.D., Email, etc. in settings.

All the buyer has to do is claim item not as described, and your return policy means nothing.

I recently had a case where this happened. However, eBay ruled in my favour not buyer's. You need to know how to manage the system.

I'm all the way down in El Paso.

The majority of eBay items are paid through PayPal. They can file an eBay claim through PayPal.

That's a passthrough system. You can either file through eBay or PayPal. eBay will handle the claim unless the seller has been suspended, only then will PayPal handle the claim.

If anyone is looking to sell their Silver 256 gig iPhone X in mint condition (with screen protector and case) and AppleCare for $650, please PM me as I’m trying to get one ASAP
