iTunes on computer says FREE for me now.

Bah, guess it was only free online, I kept checking the app store and it was $2.99 all day.

Now its 2.99 via the link above.

Oh well...

It says free in the search results but when you pull up the detail it's 2.99.

i am also using #notifio #notifiedapp and grip plugins to get push notifications for gv mobile, voicemail, sms messages... great stuff...!!

I hope all of you who downloaded it for free are the paid owners of the Cydia version. Otherwise, you're ripping off the developer.

Hmmm... just saw it was free and grabbed it. Did not know it was only intended for Cydia purchasers. The below quote from his web site supports your assertion.

Question: I bought this on Cydia, why am I having to buy it AGAIN!?!! >:|??
You don’t. Next Saturday night, it will go FREE for the night for all my Cydia folks.

It's likely that the majority of the people who downloaded it for free had no idea it was intended for Cydia purchasers. I had no idea and got it for free last night.

Two threads that were started here on these forums didn't mention that. They just said it would be available for free.

I used to read Word Up magazine
Salt'n'Pepa and Heavy D up in the limousine

Hangin' pictures on da wall...

Anyways, anyone know what this "phone to ring" setting is? Is this the phone that will ring if somebody calls your GV phone number?

I just downloaded the app. I have a google voice account. Is it free to make phone calls and SMS messages? If so why is google doing this? What do they get out of it?

Yep - the whole reason why it was offered for free for a few hours is to satisfy jailbroken users, who had already paid for Cydia app. There is no way for the developer to "transfer" paid users from Cydia to an official App Store.

The app is mere $3 bucks, and the developer has gone through a year worth of crap dealing with Apple's back-n-forth on approval of this app. I think we all should support him by paying for his app.

Same thing they're getting out of their other free services like Gmail, Maps, Docs and others - trying to get you on the web and use their services, in the hope to present you with targeted ads.

Haha, relax. Sure he's been hit with a ton of free downloads, most of which didn't come from cydia I'm sure, but he intends to make push an in-app purchase, so he'll receive more money either way.

That makes sense...thanks for explaining.

I'm a bit confused about the function of this app. I read elsewhere that Google Voice is not a VOIP app -- does this app turn it into one? Also, what does it do that Skype does not do?

Thanks.
