Exactly in the same boat LOL
I like the bigger screen, but every year I'm more hesitant to give my money to this [...] company.
Used to be a big fan, now I really dislike them. Still, no other options to be honest and I feel that's
exactly what they've been abusing. Any real competition outside of google and they would be in trouble.
Come on, how hard it would be to give as a real file structure? So I could upload MY files
to MY iPhone without going through the POS iTunes? etc, etc

iCloud Drive

No need to use iTunes anymore.

Try it out and make your decision. 7 Plus to an Xs Max should be a very nice upgrade. You’ll be surprised how much better the new form factor, gestures, and 120hz Touch input make the experience.

The 7plus is still a more than capable phone. Anyone else in the same boat?

Was considering canceling my preorder until it got processed and I missed the deadline 7 to XS. The 7 is the almost final iteration of the original iPhone lineup, all the 8 has over it is wireless charging. And looking at benchmarks plus in daily usage even with iOS 11, its still just fine.

The only thing I'm really upgrading for is screen size - not a fan of bigger phones/phablets so the Plus was never a consideration for me and I'm afraid the XR is too close to Plus size. And after my debacle with the 6 - TouchID would make for embarassing ApplePay... which they fixed in the 6S, the X with its first gen FaceID is something I avoided. Hoping they have it to where they want now with the FaceID updates, although it sounds a bit more like FaceID 1.5 rather than 2.0.

Phones are at a point where I doubt we'd see many more killer features and upgrades will get pushed out for a lot of people. I could still live with the 7 I'm sure - possibly for 2 more years - just wouldn't have more screen real estate. Its a hefty price to pay for just that. Even the 7 wasn't a no brainer update from the 6 (but I had enough with TouchID 1.0 and there was other speed improvements/etc over the 6S, so I knew about the only thing it was missing was wireless charging!).

I was thinking the same but if your one of those people that upgraded every year like me, then the phone only costs half of the total. That’s how I break it down. I’m really not paying the entire amount.

Exactly how I look at it. Sold my iPhone X 256GB for $700. Paid $700 out of pocket for the 256GB and a leather case.

I’m a 7plus user who skipped the X/8 as I was holding out for the X in the plus sized from factor. Now that it’s here I can help but feel a little underwhelmed. Considering cancelling the 256gb XS Max I have preordered and just holding out until the 2019 phones. The 7plus is still a more than capable phone.

Anyone else in the same boat?
I'm very practical, so if your phone is still capable, I would wait next year. This is coming from someone who still has a 5S and 6. I am, though, upgrading to a XS Max. The model you pre-ordered is exactly what I was trying to pre-order , but was not available for store pick-up. Is it Gold?:D

Totally in the same boat with my 7+. Would love the screen size of the MAX as the X is too small width wise (keyboard too small etc). But I was getting eye issues with the OLED X PWM flicker so have every reason to believe the MAX will be the same.

Not interested in dropping resolution to XR so if the MAX is off the table I'm sticking with 7+ or considering Note 9. Is this the end of the road for me and Apple......:(

Sorry to hear you have experienced the issues with eyestrain etc caused by the X OLED screen flicker. So did I, rendering the X totally unusable, so I returned to my (perfectly working) trusty 7 Plus.

This issue with PWM sadly rules out any Iphone with an OLED screen now or in the future for me unless Apple addresses the issue.

So the only option available for me from the three newly announced iPhones is the XR with no dual camera, a feature important to me, and a screen with less resolution that the 7 Plus... No thanks!

Being heavily invested in the Apple ecosystem, the thought of having to settle for a future LCD iPhone with poorer specs is a real concern.

Seems the 8 Plus may be my only option of an upgrade available to me for the foreseeable...

Actually the 8 Plus is the final iteration of the rounded edges that started with the series 6.

I’m not in the same boat. But if I’m real excited about going from iPhone X to a iPhone Xs Max, I could imagine anyone else with less of an iPhone X.

I would cancel the order and wait for the reviews. Go to apple store and get some hands on. If youre still interested go for a black Friday deal or a carrier promo.

I was thinking about upgrading my 4s to XS MAX, but I see it is still not a giant leap. Bigger, faster, but nothing revolutionary. I will skip this generation and will see what they do next
